Let me preface this by saying Skyrim is an amazing game. It introduced me to the Elder Scrolls Universe and I've sunk countless hours into it. I put roughly 150 to 200 hours into this game on the 360. The main reason I decided to buy this game on steam, along with many others, is because of the fantastic mods this community has created. Now, by allowing mod creators to monetize their work, Valve and Bethusda have spilt the once tightly-knit community into pieces. I've spent probably 20 to 25 hours downloading hundreds of mods for this game, which authors poured their time and love into. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for supporting mod authors. However, this is completely the wrong way to do it. Not only do creators only get 25% of the profits made off their mods, they are offered no protection from others stealing their work and having it reuploaded for sale. I won't go over all the excellent points more eloquently put than I could ever say, but I can say this: Valve and Bethusda have set a dangerous precedent for other games, and I simply can no longer put my faith in them. I advise you all to carefully think with your wallets before buying this (excellent) game and especially before purchasing any mods.
