Hideo Kojima is not a genius.

His whole team is.

Before playing the game, I had only heard about the mixed reviews the game got when it was released, and I expected a mind-boggling low quality action-game experience you nowadays get with AAA titles. If you've played Cyberpunk 2077 - you know what I am talking about. However, when I got through my first hours of gameplay I felt like i was a kid again. That thirst that you get while playing a single-player game, came to me for the first time since I was 12. The only way you can express the way this game feels when you actually run it is magic.

Gameplay-wise, Kojima Productions took adventure style gameplay to a whole new level, and it is truly magnificent. The way you transition through mountains and rocky parts of the scenery is just breathtaking. During the hardest parts of the story missions, you just have to pay attention to enemy-design and how the team capture the feeling of being constantly hunted. After a long battle, you will get to transport the necessary cargo while being accompanied by the greatest arrangement of tracks that I have ever listened to in a video-game.

The story has a lot to offer. Encapturing fantasy-like setup - check, a wide variety of deep side-stories - check, deep characters - check. Without spoiling the story too much, if you decide to try this masterpiece of a game. The characters and their backstory capture you straight away. Léa Seydoux, Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen and Troy Baker deliver one of the most thrilling experiences in a video-game. The main purpose of an actor is to make you believe, and they have more than succeeded. The story is connected to the idea of an afterlife, and after finishing the game it made me want to live my life to the fullest.

This game makes you want to believe that there is more to gaming than just usual gameplay. It takes the spark that you once had, the passion for gaming, or even a passion for life, and it brings it back to you. At the end of the day, we are all just humans that try their best to feel at home in this world, and this game has done that for me.
