This is the worst game I've ever played. Finally decided today to uninstall, yes, at EIGHT HUNDRED AND EIGHTEEN hours. Maybe in the beginning it was fun, but idk ,there's been a shift in the community as of late. Super toxic people / players, devs who don't care about anything but how much people are spending on cosmetics, and many many maaaany broken game mechanics. The balancing is awful, and for the love of god, do NOT go on this game's subreddit. Please, out of self respect, do not buy this game.

This game. My friends, this game is everything I love about exploratory, survivalist genre games.

Without even delving into the storyline (which I waited soooooo long for), just the mechanics of the game itself are beautiful. They are both fair and brutal, and you can really feel that the pressure is on to get moving and building a survivors cache. Within your first few minutes of playing, you'll need to sharpen your decision-making process or suffer the consequences.

The environment is both your greatest ally and your deadliest enemy; it will provide you with the means to survive while simultaneously wearing down your hunger, thirst, energy, and body temperature. Yes folks, this is far Northern Canada; freezing cold and just how we like it.

Now, if you're just in it for casual-play, you can tweak how the environment will treat you. Not only are there preset levels of intensities to try out in sandbox mode, but there's the option to create your own custom mode. With the customization you can change things such as likelihood of wild animal spawns and attacks, abundancy of food and their spawns on the map, weather consistencies, and a wide range of other things to tailor a game that's as easy or as challenging as you wish.

Touching on the subject of the story, I absolutely love the direction they went in, although I haven't beaten it yet. I just wish there was the option to play a woman in the main story.

Anyways, 12/10 in my opinion.
