Thanks to EA and their crappy launcher this game refuses to load. Honestly I hate giving EA my money but saw this on sale and liked previous games but after a couple of goes the game now won't boot and a quick Google shows many people in the same boat stating this to be an issue with EA's launcher. The game could be great for all I know but 1 star for poor performance.

You can tell that the people who made this game know and love this genre. This is an instant classic.

This is not a angry hater review, this is just my personal honest opinion.

Is this a decent game that can be fun at times, yeah sure.
Is it a great rpg that I can sink hundreds of hours into like The Witcher 3, Baldur's Gate 3, Final Fantasy 16 or Cyberpunk 2077? No.

To me it feels like it comes so close to getting it right but just misses the mark.

All the above games had bugs at launch so I can't fault it for the annoying times I use an item and it doesn't work or things disappearing from my inventory or the audio keeps going out of sync or having to lose an hours play via loading a Inn save due to the game saving right after I get stuck somewhere or the totally unpredictable frame rate hammering my 4080.

The combats clunky but fun if not a bit repetitive. Story's average, side missions aren't great (follow a begger for 20 minutes), graphics are decent.

The real problem I have with this game is the insistence of making you walk back and forth up and down the map for every mission, the missions are so boring. Now I know you can find a limited number of fast travel stones (and I'm guessing their aim was for you to buy more with real life money) but it's just marching about fighting thousands of goblins over and over. Yes it probably gets a lot deeper later on but 13 hours in and I'm not feeling it. Maybe I'll come back to it one day who knows but it's only a 5 out of 10 from me. If you liked the first one then fill your boots. For me I'm on to the next game.

Love this game. If you have played any of the Yakuza games this is very similar with a few extra game mechanics thrown in. I've already played through it on the PlayStation but having it on the go via the Steam Deck is something else. Runs great on the deck and has convinced me to replay through all the Yakuza series again.
A must have in my Steam Deck collection.

Early Access Review
The first time I played it, I just wanted to test it out but when I finally put it down I realised my play time was already 2 hours. That to me is the sign of an easy to pick up fun game which is exactly what you get. For me it's a better alternative to Vampire Survivor and well worth your time if you like this style of game.
Can wait to see what they add in next.
