I have a deep place in my heart for the Civilization franchise as a whole. Civilization VII takes the formula for the game and drastically changes it. It may be a touchy subject for most people, but I genuinely think the changes are amazing.

From the start you now choose from a group of "Leaders" and then proceed from this selection to choosing your Civilization. Each Civilization is tied to an age, and as you progress further into each age you will have to re-select a different Civilization from the selection provided to you. I can see how this could upset some players, but I think that this is a good addition because it leads up to so much potential replayability. You can combo so many different Leaders with all kinds of Civilizations and it really leaves you free to doing anything you please.

The game is now broken up into 3 ages at the moment: The Antiquity Age, Exploration Age, and Modern Age. I personally really love this addition it helps really break the game up better and gives new players an easier understanding on how the game works. For example, a newer player could repeatably play the Antiquity Age until they have a better grasps on how the game is played throughout this early age, and then proceed to move onto the next. And by no means am I saying this simplifies the game. I think this is the most complex Civilization game from launch to this date. I could really dive into a deep breakdown on how each Age works, but I would be here for an extremely long time. I suggest you look it up on the Wikipedia.

Barbarians are replaced by Independent Powers, which can either be conquered or befriended. City-states no longer spawn at the start of the game. If you befriend an Independent Power it will develop slowly into a City-state, but bewarned this takes quite a bit of time. If you are not careful someone can eliminate them before they fully develop into your City-state.

Now for the current negatives, I really do feel this game was designed for consoles and it shows strongly with the weak UI at the current release of the game. I think most of these negative reviews are really exaggerated, by no means does the UI "break the game". Yes, it can be quite dull or boring especially in comparison to Civilization VI's UI, I expect Fireaxis to fix some of the visual issues that have been pointed out, and if not I am sure someone will produce an entire overhall mod to fix it entirely. I really don't see how this would prevent you from enjoying this game, it really is a lot of fun.

If you liked the previous Civilization games I highly recommend you purchasing this game. It is just as addicting as the previous titles, if not more. It can be challenging at first as it is vastly different from the previous titles but I strongly suggest giving it a chance and once you get used to the new formula it just clicks and you can really get lost playing this game for hours.

If you enjoy the previous "boost-style" Sonic gameplay this game will knock your socks off, everything flows so well together in the levels and feels extremely satisfying.

Although the Generations remaster is left very unchanged, the Shadow Generations section of this game is peak. The hub world is very rewarding in testing new abilities and exploring, it offers loads of collectibles to collect.

The soundtrack does not disappoint as always.

HIGHLY recommend this game to anyone that thinks of picking it up, even if you haven't played any other Sonic titles.

This game is absolutely a masterpiece. Ran into a few bugs with some enemies not appearing on some people's screens, and a camera not uploading footage once. But the laughs we made playing this game completely made up for it. 100% recommend this game for a group of friends to pick up.

This is a super satisfying game to play, but the sound of the pressure washer makes me have to pee every 5 minutes....
