The second part of the trilogy. The part where Lara fully embraces her calling. The part where she stops doing things because she's Richard Croft's daughter and instead does them because she's Lara Croft. The part where she keeps failing but also keeps picking herself up until finally... she rises as the kickass tomb raider that we've come to know and love.

It pretty much had the same formula as the first installment of the trilogy (Tomb Raider 2013), but I didn't mind. It is part of a trilogy after all. Besides, it's the journey--the story--that I'm after. And what a frickin' story it was. Again, the story, lush landscape, puzzles (not overly difficult), and action sequences were primo. I expect nothing less from the third installment which I'll play as soon as I finish the two DLCs in Croft Manor. I have a feeling they've got great stories to tell also.
While the first game took me just under 17 hours to finish, I clocked this one at just under 25 hours. More than once, I was so engrossed in the game that I didn't even notice the tears streaming down my cheeks as I lost sense of who I was and, for those fleeting moments thought that I was embarking on an adventure as Lara Croft. Again I say BRAVO, Square Enix.

And Karen O dropping the closing song for such an epic adventure? What more can I ask for!
