For this image, I wanted the subject, in this case, the Rubik’s Cube, to look as if it were rising high into the sky. Taking the picture in vertical from below the object helped eliminate building mergers and create this sense of something large with the object filling the lower third of the photo. I also wanted the picture to represent the abnormal, the oddities that one can find on a journey. To do this, I set lines to border the section I wanted to highlight and edged out the other two columns of the cube almost to frame the subject. My main goal with this picture was to frame the cut woman and keep the background free of mergers while maintaining a balanced photo, and I feel that I really made it work. As it was bright outside, for the taking of my photo I kept flash off in order to preserve a natural, untouched feel to the picture. Overall, I’m really happy with how it turned out.
