Neat game, perhaps especially relevant in the year of our lord 2025. Gameplay is good for a 2014 shooter, but nothing special these days. Writing is excellent in some parts, very questionable in others. I have one aspect Id like to talk about it, but it involes spoilers; I will leave it hidden behind a tag below. Otherwise, 6/10 overall; may have rated higher when it first came out.

So the premise of this game is that it's set in an alternate universe where the Nazis won WWII. Cool concept, good execution - but about halfway through the game, you learn they were only able to do this because they found a vault of technology created by a Jewish secret organization. They've just been leaving these vaults in random locations, with no regard for who may find them, or what they'll do with them. This isn't an ancient thing at all - it was happening right up until the war was lost.

What the ♥♥♥♥ were these guys doing??? This is, in my opinion, a SUPER strange direction to take the plot. I'm guessing they wanted to take competence away from how they wrote the Nazis (which I think this makes them less interesting as villains). My problem is that arguably, everything that happens post WWII was the fault of this Jewish organization. You even meet someone from this organization in the game, and he seems to take no remorse or responsibility with the role they played in the Nazi victory. Very strange!

Overwatch, but fun

This is gonna be controversial, but I think this is my new favorite entry in the Borderlands series. It got rid of everything that I didn't like/care about, and replaced it with a really fun and streamlined experience. Totally worth playing, and probably a good intro to the series.

EDIT AFTER FINISHING THE GAME: The writing towards the end of the story took a bit of a dive, and I definitely feel Borderlands 2 is a stronger entry in the "sticks with you" department. Still though, as an overall experience, especially for a new player, I really think this is a good entry in the franchise.

I played this when I was a teenager and had very few other games available. Took a lot of patience, but I really enjoyed it when I accepted that they are intentionally difficult challenges. Surprised to see everyone here hating on it.
