Metal Unit was my first real platformer experience, and I had a good time with it. There’s a nice variety of weapons, abilities, and character customization. Boss fights and dungeons are fun, and there’s room for experimenting with different builds.

On the downside, dying resets your progress, and grinding upgrade stones becomes repetitive. You also need those stones for healing, and sometimes no healing drops at all for several runs.

Overall, it’s an enjoyable game with some grind-heavy moments.

Too many letters… and maybe you don’t need to read this…
I've been playing Apex Legends pretty much since launch - from Season 0.

I don't play anymore

Back then, though, my PC could barely handle the game, so I only got back into it properly in Season 2 — with some breaks here and there.
Since then, I’ve racked up around 3000-3400 hours across different platforms.

I’ve played on everything imaginable - from rigs pushing 60–80 FPS to setups running stable 144. And yeah, the experience definitely depends on your FPS.

Atmosphere and Dynamics

Back in the day, Apex felt more casual.
Maybe because there were more players, maybe because the overall skill level was lower - I don’t know.
Now the average skill level has grown a lot, and for people who just want to chill for a couple of hours after work, that can be a problem.

Apex is aim-dependent, but not to an insane degree (imo).
There are controllers - and if you look at third-party stats, an average controller player often shoots no worse than a decent MnK player.

Legends and Progression

Legends unlock with currency you earn by leveling up.
But if you don’t feel like waiting - the premium currency is always at your service.
Technically, the game is free to play, but… there’s a catch (unlocking legends).
Other than that, you’re not forced to pay for anything, and that’s worth a “thanks.”

The roster of legends is impressive.
Want to bunker up in a building? Go ahead.
Want to sprint across the map like Naruto in Konoha? Sure thing.
Want to cosplay SpaceX? That’s covered too

The meta keeps shifting: one legend gets buffed, another nerfed, then weapon stats get adjusted.
Nowadays, there are even mid-split balance tweaks - which didn’t happen before

Movement Mechanics

The game has tons of movement tech - from simple to advanced — and that’s a massive plus.
Slides, wall jumps, mantle jumps, superglides, tap-strafes, and more.
No CoD has ever come close to this
And when you add each legend’s abilities on top of that - you get one of the most dynamic shooters on the market

Technical Side

Sometimes Apex works (period) (just kidding) stably
And sometimes it feels like EA is a company run by “special”people
Packet loss, missing shots, desync - you name it

It’s especially “fun” when you take a shot, hear the hit sound, and then on the killcam you see yourself just flying through the air catching a 108 from a Peacekeeper.
At that point it’s not gameplay anymore - it’s a meme....

Cheaters and Matchmaking

Yes, there are cheaters.
As for matchmaking… if you want to understand how bad it is, just go on Reddit — they’ll explain perfectly why EA’s player matching system is garbage

Ranked System

In other shooters, Diamond means something.
In Apex - not really
Any random beer drinker can grind to Diamond without even knowing what they’re doing.

After that, the system throws them against genuinely strong players, they get stomped, and start whining that “it’s too hard”
Respawn makes the system harder - they can’t rank up, they whine.
Then Respawn makes it easier - they rank up and whine again.
And so it goes, season after season

Content and Economy

Apex does know how to make fun events.
Sure, they repeat (the Christmas “Winter Express” is already a meme), but sometimes they really hit the mark - the Final Fantasy sword, the baseball bat, the Wildcard mode.
(They even did Apex OG, kind of like OW2’s version of old-school throwbacks)

Monetization

Recolors of recolors, then recolors of those recolors, and then they’ll repaint it again.
Every sale feels like déjà vu

Player Content

Players have been asking for a workshop forever - the ability to make custom maps, modes, servers, duels, simple deathmatches.
You’d think it’s an obvious move for a game with such a passionate community - but nope.
Everything still happens unofficially.
That’s probably one of Apex’s biggest missed opportunities

Summary

Apex Legends is still one of the best battle royales out there.
The mechanics, the gunplay, the movement, the verticality - everything feels dynamic and stylish.
It’s a fast-paced shooter, and that’s exactly why people love it

Cons

The average skill level has skyrocketed - tough for newcomers and casuals

No permanent solo mode, no solo/duo ranked

In ranked, full 3-stacks play against solo queue players - seriously, fix this already

Frequent server issues: packet loss, missing shots, desyncs

Matchmaking - inconsistent and frustrating

Ranked system stuck in an endless “harder - easier- harder again” loop

Recolors of recolors, repetitive store rotations

No proper custom content tools (maps, modes, deathmatches)
