Imagine you're a Dark Souls fan and you keep playing through Dark Souls 3 everyday until the day that Dark Souls 4 drops FINALLY arrives. You begin to play it and realize that, while you know how to play Souls-like games, this game plays the same as Dark Souls 3 but is much harder. And like all the other Souls-like games you've played, you have to yet again learn all the secrets and techniques to a game that you would seemingly already know how to breeze through.

Remember that first time you played binding? When you had zero clue what to do, and you didn't know what was in the next room each time? Repentance brings back these feelings once more. It brings back the curiosity and unknowing that everyone once felt when playing for the first time. To play this DLC you have to learn how to play it. You will not just zoom through it like a normal Afterbirth run, it will knock you down and you will have to keep getting back up. I think that this introduction of a new kind of challenge was exactly what this game needed.

People have to realize that nerfed items and characters will be buffed, and edmund will bring back part of the broken gameplay that we all came to love with some time. The game will eventually get easier somewhat, but the increase in difficulty of the gamemodes should not and will not be changed. This DLC is great, but it will become even better with time, and will become more appealing to the more casual binding players.

Early Access Review
This game FRIED my GPU. Not even joking, it killed itself over this game. If that doesn't show you how epic this game is I don't know what will.

This game is super fun.
If you like challenging puzzle games with cool elements (ie the badass shooting mechanics in this game), then you will love this game to death. I played through the game on hard mode, and to be entirely honest, it's much harder than it looks. The sheer amount of things that you have to press and pay attention to makes it challenging but also somehow immersive. I will definitely play this game through again to try and get S' on every level and unlock all the achievements, because it was that fun. Not to mention, the music is fantastic. I love how the banana (Pedro) always pops up to tell me the best mechanic to use at the time, because I would often forget that some mechanics even existed. The controls are extremely fluid and easy to handle, I was able to get the hang of it within seconds of starting.
Although the game was great, it did have its share of tediums... One small problem I had with the game was that getting good scores on every level the first time seemed impossible because of all the stuff the game threw at you, so I would feel like I wasn't playing the levels the way the game wanted me to because I was missing options to kill, or using different mechanics, but then there was the occasional level where I got a really good score instead, and it just didn't make sense. The story was very cool and interesting to follow, with each and every level having a new and unique design. About 80% through the story though, the levels started to lose their main shoot em' up mechanic and just started to become platforming levels. They started to become like chores, and also became rage inducing. But, its probably just because I'm bad lol.
Overall, I would recommend this game for anyone who wants a challenge and wants to look like a badass all the while.

This game is outstanding. The music is expertly done by Curtis Schweitzer and the gameplay always has more fun to offer. This game is definitely recommended and I can't wait to see the future of it.
