Enough good references and care for characters to bring a tear to a Cartoon Network kids eye, but the devs bring tears to my eyes for other reasons

Pros:
-Classic CN character roosters have great representation
-Crossplay
-Casual to pick up with a real skill wall to learn
-The cast is actually so fun to just look at from Lebron James to Marvin the Martian to Agent Smith
-Shaggy is using more than 1% of his power for once
-The character quips at each other is very fun and frequent
-You can toast/honor your enemies and teammates
-Perk system in platform fighter is an interesting idea
-Optional PVE mode 'Rifts' with extra rewards and old cartoon nostalgia for fans
-Rifts are genuinely fun if not a little repetitive
-Limited move sets and button requirements makes doing combos easier to learn
-Perks and synergize with each other
-People are very willing to party with strangers in this game
-Velma's vision blurs when crouch walking looking for her glasses
-Free daily shop for PVE rift stones was nice
-Tom and Jerry literally fight each other
-Emotes :)
-Making spot dodge stun people on proper dodge and giving the dodge a meter while frustrating for both parties at times was honestly a really smart move
-Devs really cared about character representation being loyal to their identities down to referencing animations in only one episode like Samurai Jack's dance taunt

Cons:
-All the characters feel oddly weighty and a little clunky compared to what you'd assume at first glance
-The perk system from beta to current has been vastly changed for the worse making choosing them feel less worth while
-Way too many menus and separation when load times are already rough
-Servers disconnect you or an ally often like once after every 15-20 games
-I miss old Velma I'm a filthy Velma spyglass abuser and I miss it
-Most of the character level rewards are perk currency but you very rarely use it
-Multiple load out perks instead of being able to change on the fly in game feels less fun
-A lot of skins are just a mask or hat for everyone for Rifts
-Low key a lot of horny skins for Velma kind of odd
-So many map hazards and breakable platforms or moving platforms there isn't a solid neutral stage
-Every character feels like they have a win button that you can spam with the only real option being to dodge or spot dodge and with unreliable connection and server issues it feels bad at times
-High prices in shops for literally anything with limited missions low currency gain unless you play the whole rooster and level them for more fighter currency
-Higher level rifts are locked behind having a certain stone type at that level which is not guaranteed to happen even if you 100% all rifts in a zone for all unlocked ranks making you have to hope for daily shop to give you a stone you need to redoing Rifts with a friend
-Not super hard to 100% the achievements but they don't track perfectly on Steam
-You must play with a friend in Rifts to get the last star on every single mission
-This game disappeared for more than a year after people spent upward to $100 on account perks and came back with a very short life span worse servers, a worse perk system, and micro transactions galore. While the gameplay is still fun it's a far cry from what it originally was and could have possible been prevented with more community involvement with gameplay tests to gauge how the new systems would work.
-I feel so bad for anyone with a gold name dude
-Genuinely the beta was better
-As of May 30th 2025 you cannot play this game anymore

Really fun with friends amazing optimization with rough replayability in it's current build

Pros;
-Unreal Engine 5 Graphics in a horror game
-Really really well optimized
-VoIP
-Camera looks really nice
-Backrooms
-Better with friends
-The lobby screen is great
-Level design mostly feels fair
-Decent amount of items to find and utilize
-Levels lead into each other in some way making it almost feel like a story
-Puzzles and mazes
- The LiDar Section was really cool
-Different ideas on every floor with call backs to previous ones
-Some secrets to find in level generation making speed running easier
-Difficulty scales to player count
-You could speed run this game
-Hard to 100% (Try to purgatory by yourself if you're having trouble)
-Replaying almost feels like a rogue like
-Numbers on the backs of each player is a really good idea for showing different players without losing the feeling of them being on the same team
- Some creatures react to VoIP
- The water level adds a good break in tension
-You can play beta builds early
-Good devs constantly patching and updating with a discord to let you always be up to date
-Follow the sound of my whistle

Cons:
-Pretty buggy
-Rough replayability almost feeling like a speed running chores after you've beat the game once, but will probably feel better once there are move levels
-Hard to 100%, but is even harder to try with people
- Level Fun in purgatory mode almost feels unfair with being able to drop into a hallway with not enough coins in multiplayer and your sanity can drain and kill you before your friends can get to you.
-Item RNG feels a little low in some runs and areas
-The Camera is criminally underused and ends up as a keybind you only use to hinder yourself for fun
-You don't automatically drop or lose objective or map based items upon entering a new map
-The level selection hub does end it really is just that long
- The monsters so far are either very one dimension in strategy or just not dangerous making them feel quite anti climatic after first viewing they don't hold much staying power
-No items that interact with VoIP, the environment, sound, or anything besides the players in anyway
-I wish the game told you what number you will have on your back at the start or in lobby to prep for better comms

A really fun concept that got dropped faster than Naruto dropped believe it from his vocabulary

Pros:
-Low skill floor letting almost anyone hop on and have a chance at winning
-Cross play
-Multiple game modes
-Fun with friends
-Simple kits that felt good
-Cute and a little derpy chibis
-Gave me a skin on SMITE
-I made a friend in this game shout out Ado :)
-Diabolically easy to 100% achievements

Cons:
-YOU CAN'T PLAY THIS ANYMORE
-Hi-Rez abandoned this game like 6 months in
-Pretty unbalanced the god differential in power was actually insane
-Skill floor and ceiling are just almost touching
-Just not a lot of content map wise, character wise, profile wise and cosmetic wise

Rest in Peace DKO

A short experience that leaves you wanting more of it to exist

Pros:
-Really cool low poly art direction
-Extra crunch and dithering options to make your game feel a bit more retro
-A lot of cool weapons to mess around with
-Enough RNG drops that you can play another run and find a couple new gear sets
-A pretty good hook with an interesting enough story to engage you
-Reading is entirely optional
-A very simple combat system with enough complexity to make trying new weapons and builds fun
-Fun emotes
-Great sound direction everything feels properly crunchy when landing hits and the soundtrack never overstays it's welcome
-Easy to 100% the achievements
-Beatable in one sitting
-Character creation
-Fun with friends
-Ping that say the name of what you pinged if it is an enemy or a chest helping communication so much
-Great map design with a lot of seamless looping back to the start of an area while opening up a new route
-Cheap, you know that's a huge pro
-Good sense of humor
-Cool designs choices for the NPC's and enemy bugs
-Bunch of fun references to other media in the weapons and armor
-Fishing hell yeah brother
-Fishing is entirely optional you don't even need to grab the rod
-Just that perfect sitting at a bonfire with your friends scene that you crave
-Bugs, insects, critters even

Cons:
-Painfully short playtime length
-Some weapons hit boxes feel way too short
-If you die while playing with friends you cannot spectate them
-The difficulty tanks if you play with friends
-Stamina feels a like it regenerates a little too slow when out of combat
-Character creation is very limited
-Cut scenes don't always load for everyone for boss battles
-Only one person can talk to an npc when playing with friends
-Single person interaction chests when all chests are character based
-Fishing rod is a little buggy
-Lack of options for bows
-Beatable in one sitting
-Combat with charge attack weapons feels a little clunky with changing stances with wasd making it hard to approach with anyone other than W charged attack
-You will want more

A Classic Beat em' up with roguelike elements to make each run unique and many characters to unlock
Pros:
-Classic Beat Em' Up Series brought to the current year
-Fun with a friend
-Online capability
-Beautiful pixel art
-Every character is unique and has ways to combo with their kit encouraging players to try new characters and styles and gives all the modes major replayability
-All bosses are playable characters you can unlock for tokens
-Two Endings
-Play as two characters
-Roguelike power ups you buy at the end of every stage for money changing how your play style on each character is with the option to not buy a power up and save money to earn more tokens
-The tag system is much more complex than at first sight giving your cool options to combo out of specials or safely exiting your ally out of an enemy combo.
-The songs you can buy show which game the soundtracks originally came from which is really cool
-Combos feel really good
-That classic old school itch you might be craving
-Survival Mode offers an insane increase in challenge which might just be what you're craving after beating all the story mode
-The final versions of the bosses in story mode are all very different and teach mechanics in the game as well are almost all fun to do
-You can beat this game without sprinting once ever don't ask how i know that letting you add your own challenges to the game if you want more difficulty
-A lot of initially hidden tech you can learn thru buying tips or paying attention to enemy design to see how the game system works i.e certain enemy's jump your first hit and never get hit because that start of the jump animation give invincibility frames
-You can bring a gun to a knife fight
-100%ing this game isn't very hard it requires a minimum of 4 story playthru's and a one or two good survival runs if you want to speed run the achievements

Cons:
-Multiplayer can de-sync and ruins some ruins entirely causing you to be forced to cash out early
-Absolutely no own else is online hosting a session out of my 16 hours I only got into one randoms session and beat the story with them shout out to that guy
-Can be a little buggy online had 2 games with a friend where they came in as the wrong character or the run insta-killed us on the entrance of Anubis Pyramid
-Double tap run isn't enabled by default
-It's hard to tell depth perception on some stages of what you can land on but you get use to this fairly fast just might catch new players of the genre off guard
-Tips to get better at the game are locked behind token purchases which I think should be earned through runs, playtime, or tips during stage select
- Machine Gun Willy's final boss version while being one of the most boss like backdrops and being very surprising feels very clunky only offering you one or two windows of hitting him off the helicopter. At the same time if you hit him at the start of the hit-able bomb sequence while you have Soul Food you can win by doing the 20 fall damage and healing off the ads he drops at the start of the helicopter section. It just feels a little not thought out
-No trading cards
-You cannot pet the dog only punch and kick...

TL:DR Great beat em up with fluid and easy to grasp combat and movement and a great sense of humor

Pros:
- Multiplayer bring a friend
- Remote play enabled
- Amazing art and pixel art with a lot of character
- The boss fights all felt very unique and fun
- Items are fun to play with
- Combing feels very good once you have you're whole moveset
- Funny story
- Short easy to digest game
- A lot of fighting game and beat em up references
- A voice acting cast you're bound to know at least one person from if not many
- Music is great
- Pretty fun easter eggs
- Secret boss is super fun glad I got to punch those two
- Bonus characters are quite fun to play once they have their move set
- Cute girls
- I MISS MY BROTHER

Cons:
- No online so you must use remote play to play with someone and that caused lag for your friend
- Sometimes entrances don't like that you're trying to go thru them so you have to walk away and walk back up
- NG+ adding more collectibles to find around just felt a little silly
- Story items don't transfer to all the characters when obtained which just seems a little silly again
- I didn't mind the platforming sections, but the game wasn't built for that so be warned they exist
- Its really hard to see where you're going to land when jumping moving up or down, looking at the shadow helps but not enough in certain cases
- The book items have a deceptive item description not letting you know they are passive items to keep in your inventory giving them a consume option just felt evil
- Requires multiple playthrus bare minimum of two to 100% the achievements
- A good couple of achievements require a friend to get or two controllers and patience
- Friendly fire turns itself on every single time you load a save even if you specifically selected it off you'll have to pause the game and change the setting in there once you load

TLDR: Short rpg maker game that tells you a story in under 20 minutes

Pros:
- Short game
- Easy to 100% achievements
- Supporting an indie dev
- The minimalist sound effects help add to the vibe of the story
- Devs first RPG Maker game

Cons:
- Rough translations but nothing you couldn't read correctly in your head automatically if you're native speaker
- Default assets
- Reading simulator

The only reason I don't recommend this game is its not something I'd casually go out of my way to anyone and be like oh you should play this. All in all this is just a devs first time messing around with an RPG maker and that's great! Just not a must play.

TL:DR Short fun combat platformer game that has better movement than combat and a nice art style

Pros:
- Short game can be beaten in less than 5 hours and generally takes around 7-8 if your taking your time
- Very nice art style
- Fun character design
- Characters are very emotive for how limited the animation of the game is
- Movement feels really good after the first hour or two
- Beautiful artsy running segments
- Lovely soundtrack
- Story is entirely skippable without hindering any gameplay
- Controller support
- Itorah is pretty cute

Cons:
- Combat is a little clunky whether its the hitboxes being a little hit to make the swing comfortable or the lack to gravity and reaction the enemies take when getting hit it all feels a little disjointed
- Limited SFX for characters making some characters a little grating to listen to
- Story is a little forgettable even when paying close attention maybe just not my cup of tea
- To 100% achievements requires a little bit of speed running with can be a pretty big turn off for some people
- This one segment at the end of the game where you slide down an aqueduct, land on a drip leaf and have to jump on falling architecture should have at least one more segment stay as if you hit all the pillars you get soft locked. It's right before a save so it's not a huge deal but it was the only part in the game like this making it feel out of place.

TL:DR Fantastic RPG suitable for beginners and long time fans, but an awful port always get S

Pros:
- Fairly simple RPG mechanics suitable for first timers into the series or genre
- Exploration is heavily rewarded with items and chests and side quest things to do
- Amazing art direction (RIP Akira Toriyama)
- Classic enemies brought HD
- Pretty good story
- Getting a game over isn't too bad since it asks if you want to reload at an autosave, or last save
- Funny moments, puff puff scenes are especially funny this time around
- Fun characters
- Voice acting
- You can skip any cut scene you've seen before on another save
- Mini games ( horse racing and forging ) are short and pretty fun
- Costumes are a treat
- Pep power animations are all a treat to watch and are a fun edition to the game.
- Calls back to older games in the franchise but shows them in a way where you don't need to know anything
- Grinding for max level is the easiest its been in one of these games how frequent you can get metal slimes and if you use certain abilities
- Party chat in the final act is really good especially Hendrick
- Dance status animations are better than ever
- Slyvando
- Act 3 the pink bubbles turn into optional quests and additional items you can find by just questing and exploring it was really refreshing!
- Dragon Quest is cool man

Cons:
- No post game in this edition
- Cannot select costumes without equipping armor in this edition
- Next to no graphic options in this edition
- No 2D mode in this game making replay value much lower if you only own this version
- No alchemy pot
- Weapons are tied behind characters with some overlap making it so you might never see that type of weapon in your playthru
- Partially hard to 100% achievements requiring you to level 99 all characters and do tedious tasks that aren't much fun
- Party chat function is very lack luster in first half of the game mainly being used to remind you where to go instead of adding passive story telling thru the characters just feels less well done than in other entries
- So many sword fighters not enough good late game swords to warrant running them with swords
- There are clear correct choices in which weapon tree you should be leveling into which devalues other weapons and sometimes only one character can use that type of weapon so you might never see it used in your playthru
- The wish options in this edition are kind of a joke.
- Act 3 trials of Dustran and Wheel of Harma are insane if you are trying to do all of them. You need to be overly leveled or have leveled into the right trees. As well as the rewards for them are kind of crap. I did greatly enjoy these trails though even if they were stressful.
- In act 3 you gain a whole bunch of elemental hit all moves for the sword of light and I really wish it was tied behind Hero instead of the sword as it devalues greatswords as a whole making it so you cannot go greatsword build at the end of act 3 without hindering yourself greatly. Additionally having no way to great another sword of light greatsword variant was kind of lame if Hero can use two kinds of weapons and forges those weapons himself I don't see why there wouldn't be a greatsword variant.

Additionally, you cannot buy this port anymore on Steam so maybe no one will see this review. If you are buying keys online for Dragon Quest 11 and it's not the definitive S edition it is really not worth buying it. Please please please buy the definitive edition of this game unless you just want this version for game preservation!
