Short version: Very addicting PVE co-op mining FPS game with dwarfs inside space-caves fighting off alien bugs.

Long version: Can be played solo, or up to 4 people together online. There are 4 different classes, namely Gunner, Engineer, Scout and Driller. Each class has a unique way of traversing the various sequentially generated areas in the game, as well as providing different abilities to help out the other miners, and changing up the gunplay. The player can start an assignment that can be finished by completing missions. Once an assignment is complete, the player gets rewarded. There are multiple types of missions, all of them having a main objective, and a secondary objective. It is worth to do both, as it gives more EXP and pays more credits after completion. On top of that, there are occasional random events that can differ between collecting additional loot, or defeating mini-bosses. Always mine out Gold for more credits, and Nitra for ammo resupply, because ammo can run out pretty quickly. It is sometimes beneficial to mine out any unique or extra minerals, as they are needed for purchasing certain weapon and tool abilities, new weapons, and cosmetics. These abilities are locked behind level progression per each class. Enemies usually appear in waves throughout the mission, sometimes they're triggered by certain actions or progression, and there's plenty of different types of alien bugs to make the gameplay challenging and engaging. The more missions you complete, the more new weapons and cosmetics you can unlock. Additionally, you can complete challenges to get perk points to unlock passive and active perks for your characters. Once a class reaches level 25, they won't gain more EXP and levels, and the player has the option to apply to a Promotion Assignment, which when is completed, the class can then be promoted, resetting their level, but gaining a second active perk slot, and maintaining every weapon and tool abilities as well. There is a season pass as well, which is purely cosmetic, and all the DLCs for this game are also cosmetic only, meaning that you don't have to buy them to get the full experience with the game.

I tried to make this as short and understandable as possible, there's a lot more to talk about.

Short version:

I recommend this game to anyone who likes third-person shooters, Metroidvania, very surreal story and atmosphere, lots of details, and the color red. Or redhead protagonists.

Long version:

The Story:
Oh boy, where do I even start... This game originally came out last year, only recently getting a Steam release. When I got the game, I was heading into it without knowing anything about it. Here's a quick synopsis for the beginning of the game: our main protagonist is a woman named Jesse Faden, who enters this building called The Oldest House. Inside this building is the headquarter of the F.B.C. (Federal Bureau of Control), a secret organization responsible for covering up weird and supernatural events around the world. The Oldest House isn't visible to anyone, unless the building wants certain individuals to know about it's existence. Jesse came here to find his long lost brother, with the help of a certain entity inside her mind. The first person she meets is a Finnish janitor by the name Ahti, who then lets her inside the building, as his assistant. Jesse heads to the elevator, leading to the Office Complex, then she heads to the Director's office, where he finds the Director lying on the floor dead, and a weird pistol-shaped object next to him. When she picks this object up, she finds herself in a weird white and black plane of existence, where a black pyramid facing downwards starts talking to her/telling her what to do. Soon, she learns how to use this new weapon/the weapon allows her to use it. After that, Jesse heads deeper inside the building, but she stumbles into F.B.C. employees floating in the air, chanting all sorts of crazy things, and trying to take control over Jesse's mind. Luckily she's not that easy to manipulate, and she decides to name these weird entities the Hiss, due to their nature of whispering and hissing bad things into people's minds. From here on, Jesse has to fight off the Hiss, find out more about the F.B.C. and look for her brother.

The Gameplay:
Control isn't entirely like your typical TPS game. The controls are pretty fluid, Jesse runs, jumps, and vaults through objects and environments quickly and very nicely. This is important, because the game is all about constant movement, and if you stop for a second, the enemies will surely hurt you. The combat itself is pretty straight-forward at the start: you have a melee blast for nearby enemies, and you get the Service Weapon, which is a shape-shifting object served as a gun. At first, you have the Grip, which is a standard pistol, and later on you can get various other forms like Shatter, which is a close-range shotgun, Spin which is your SMG, and so on and so forth. The Service Weapon has a set amount of ammo for each form, once you run out of it, it will automatically recharge it's ammo for a few seconds. Until then you can't shoot with it, so be careful how you use your gun. There are boxes scattered around the map that contain weapon mods for your gun as well. Later in the game, you'll get special abilities, such as Evade for dodging enemy attacks, Launch for picking up objects and throw them at enemies, and Shield to protect yourself from heavy barrages of attacks. These abilities use energy, so be sure to use them wisely. You can upgrade your gun forms and abilities later in the game as well. The enemy variety isn't too big, but their level scales depending on how strong you get during your gameplay. Basic enemies will constantly shoot you, and bigger ones will throw objects at you, and will protect themselves with shields. Once you defeat them, they will drop small blue dots, collecting them will refill some of your HP.

The Oldest House:
The best part of the game, the building itself that you've entered. From the outside, it looks like a tall stone building, but from the inside, it's much, much bigger than that. It also can change it's shape inside at it's own will, and it doesn't look like anything humans could've built. Control's story revolves around the surreal, things that humans can't comprehend, otherworldly entities and events happening in the world, all of which is being kept top secret in The Oldest House by the F.B.C. There are multiple floors you can visit as you progress, which you can explore in any order you want, making the game a little less linear. Jesse can unlock various waypoints in these locations, which you can fast-travel to in case you don't want to walk around a lot. The game also have plenty of collectibles, like voice-tapes and classified documents, that give a lot more information and context about the building and the F.B.C.'s past investigations. There's a lot of detail hidden in this game, which makes collecting all the more worthwhile, if you're really interested in the world and the events that happened here.

The Graphics and Sound:
This game is beautiful. I don't have an RTX card to experience the ray-tracing this game has to offer, but even without that, it still looked very nice. These graphics do justice for the atmosphere and overall look of the game. Very smart use of the colors red, white, and grey. The facial expressions on the characters look very good, and they are nicely detailed. One of my favorite things about this game is the detail put into environmental destruction: walls shatter, pillars and stone tables can be fully destroyed, and the objects react to the abilities used nearby them. As for the sound design, there's plenty of good dynamic ambient music, like when there's a fight going on, depending on the pace of your actions or the enemies' actions, the music will speed up or slow down. In key moments, the music selections is great.

Overall:
I had a blast with this game, and the DLCs that come with this version also added to the experience. I really recommend this game/want you to play it if you're already familiar with Remedy's past works/played their games before (Max Payne, Alan Wake and Quantum Break), and the things I mentioned before in the short version of this review.

I give this game an 8/10.

I absolutely adore this game.

I got it from a friend as a gift, didn't know much about it before. The game takes place in a cyberpunk world around 207X, and it's being presented from the perspective of a bartender woman named Jill. Clients show up, and you have to serve them drinks they have been ordered. After that, they start chatting with you. You can also make them drunk, but be smart about it, mistakes result in a penalty. The goal is to get enough money to pay for monthly subscriptions, and the rent. The graphics are charming pixel-art anime sweetness, lot of the people you interact with are diverse, likable, and have their own stories to share, character designs are good-looking, the drink descriptions are interesting and funny, the soundtrack is amazing, the story is pretty good, and just the overall atmosphere is nice.

I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to have a good read, and just relax. Time to mix drinks and change lives.

Hard to learn, hard to master. Regardless, it's a really fun game, especially with friends. Good luck with spending tons of hours only training for aerials and backboard goals and stuff.

Early Access Review
Title is misleading. You can play without friends too.

But seriously, a really fun game. The current levels are really good, and you can spice up the game with different mutators, such as collision, low gravity, bounciness, or playing as random objects instead of a golf ball. Definitely worth the money, and absolutely fun with friends!

I got this game from a friend luv ya <3 and oh boy... It's a real shame that this series is so underrated. If you're looking for a VN that has a lot of choices that can change the story, then this is not what you want. But instead, if you're looking for a great story, then this is your game. The world has a mysterious material called Mana, and it's almost everywhere around. Humans are used to live with it, so it became a big part of their lives (it's literally flowing in their system). Some people can manipulate this material, and they can use it for many useful things. The game has some fantasy and some sci-fi elements (I just call it the sci-fi of fantasy), but it's also character drama oriented (so get ready for the feels train). The characters are well written, they're not feel like those really cliché anime protagonists. The music is decent (I only had problem with the opening though) so it fits very well with the events. Overall, if it's on a discount, then give it a try.
