Why would i recommend this game?

Because as of the version 1.5, it is seriously getting better, and the devs are really listening to the community, and Ales Ulm is back at the helm, all the more reasons to feel good about it, since it is basically a great concept and it will only go upwards from now on.
It is honestly totally possible to spend an absolutely ridiculous amount of time in this game if you like to explore but also craft and build your dream ship and best possible home, alone, or in a group.
And to be clear the low polygon graphics are totally cute.

So why the hell are you still reading this instead of going on an exploration?

This game started in 2017, at that time exploration was interresting, you had to follow birds up in the sky to guesstimate your way to new islands, that was fun.
Then the exploration got sacrified and the game went free, putting the emphasis in creating minigames, and if you searched a bit in the different ones proposed, you could find real pearls, including some really nice recreations of the old school exploration (Christal and Spyler saved the game for me)

And now, 1.5 brings exploration back on tracks, with dozens of islands to explore in many biomes, it is adventurous again and then you gan group with good friends to make some crazy builds on some multiplayer islands, it is so nice to be able to enjoy this game once again, thanks to Ales Ulm for his most amazing return at the helm of this ship.

So yes there are some bugs, but nothing game breaking, and besides those, this game is so damn good it is a real pleasure to spend time in it.

You will probably think i am far too new at this game with my 20 hours in it to complain but...

After building a nice base, taming a good group of pigs and bears for around 20 hours, i saw far away an Alpha lion tearing down his way on the opposite beach, then it swam directly to my place and killed every tame i had in less time than i took to write it, teared my base down and killed me like i was an ant...

In those 20 hours i also got good pigs stuck in pirate buildings, with the impossibility to get them out, i have had 2 or 3 crashes and died countless times of overheating in heat waves with no way to escape it even in the water...

I really wanted to love this game since i am a real fan of Ark, where i have over 2000 hours of game time but i realize how poorly balanced this "mod" is.

And yes, i will call it a mod, not a game, but just a badly made mod out of ark.

I am very, very, very disappointed.


ADDENDUM AFTER 108 HOURS OF TRYING TO LIKE THIS PILE OF GARBAGE

Crew disappearing, invisible gathering buildings (farm, warehouse), pirate villages stacked by layers of up to 3 with unreachable cannon guys hidden under piles of superimposed layers of roofs so you CANNOT kill them all, stupid heat waves killing you even if you are good on fortitude and vitamins and underwater, this want to be a game is just like it s layered pirate villages, a layered tasteless pile of bugs that made me RAGE UNINSTALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess playing it for 133 hours speaks for itself =)

Game of the Year !!!

I have recently started to delve into factory games and this little game is simply awesome.

It starts simply, but you will very soon find yourself with mechanics that are as complex as any other such game for a fraction of their price. Very clever game that only looks humble to reveal itself as a pure time eater =)

I may be a lucky guy, but this game works fine for me, thanks to my rig =)
Almost 50 hours ingame and i already know i am going to play it a LOT.
Story mode is awesome and online mode is really fun too even if a little grindy to start with. Any GTA player should own this piece of art.

1500 hours in this game and i am still nowhere near finishing it, this is your best buy possible if you want to spend money wisely.

I bought this game when it was a small fortune to help the devs make a great game, then it went free but pay to win and i was really disappointed...
Shouldnt people like me receive ArcheAge Unchained for free?
