People may believe the enjoyment of this game is in part ironic, due to the absolutely deranged art style, or nostalgia based, as the game wears it's Wario, Sonic and Metroid influenced on it's sleeve, but this is a game that if released back in 1992 would routinely appear in best of all time lists until this day.

Its gameplay mixes the best elements of all your favorite platformers; exploration, speed, precision, challenge, silly costumes, and yet it also ends up being better than the sum of its parts. Once you get a rhythm going it feels like you are one with the game, as if you are the angry Italian man hitting sentient pieces of cheese at Mach 4.

It may feel weird in a year with heavy hitters such as Zelda or Spider Man to so confidently declare a tiny game that looks like Ren and Stimpy's weird cousin one of the best in the year, and yet, it would feel wrong to say otherwise.

it's bastion but better
