Fun game with a charming amount of jank, but mostly good dungeon crawling old school rpg party style fun.
If you get frustrated easily from multiplayer games due to the dreaded "Sweats" then this game may not be your cup of tea. I have definitely had great runs spoiled by player teams that annihilated my party, but that is the nature of the beast. The game is fun enough to where you feel a want to optimize your perks, build, and class so maybe the same thing doesn't happen again.

If you're newer, it's a good idea to play with your gear score below 25 and also join the official Dark and Darker Discord (The Knight server linked in game has a link in its welcome page) because the discord is incredibly fast for finding a squad to play with and most of the community is really friendly to new players. If you go into the Create Trios channel and then find your channel number from the list, copy the link, and put a message into LFG channel with a link to your room and within literal seconds, you'll have a full squad ready to conquer the dungeons with you.

I was so excited for release. I had purchased it as soon as I could and couldn't wait to revisit the city I played in the demo and see what was beyond the mysterious door I opened at the end of the demo. Then, once I finished the current build, I was still wanting to go to the city,

Because they cut it completely from this version. In this version you start off in a fish market a bit outside the city. Totally fine. The map has a lot of thought put into the areas and how they connect. If you're into Dark Souls you'd love the cheeky ways the map connects back to older areas.

However, once you get past the fish market, go along some cliffs and caves for a while, and finally reach the lighthouse you've been working toward this whole time, the game ends. Obviously it's still "Early Access" (Why you'd choose a game like this to start off in early access is beyond me, just make a good 8-10 hour story and then release it for this price) but even still, it doesn't have enough content to justify the current price.

I want to like this game so badly, I was honestly excited to continue my adventure past the lighthouse then... just nothing. Nowhere to go, nothing to collect, nothing to spend the coins you've been collecting all game on. I'm not mad. I'm just really let down honestly. I can't in good conscience recommend this game in its current state and at its current length.

There was even a section featuring some kind of massacre underneath a tavern. "Oh sweet, it's those plague doctor monsters from the demo, I'm going to finally have a use for the 2 boxes of shotgun shells I picked up" Then right as the noises get close to you, you realize whatever killed the Tavern people isn't going to be released until the "Tavern" update.

It's such a bad look to release little dribbles of a game like this. This is the sort of game I want to be able to sit down on a few sittings and beat after a few days. Not play for 3 hours then never touch it unless there's an update.

TL;DR: game short, not worth full price, wait until more stuff

Didn't even want to get past the tutorial. Reloading doesn't even work properly. You try pulling the slide of your gun back and it just switches your weapon's hand. Until you do it 46 times, then it will let you ♥♥♥♥ the pistol back. Great for when I'm in the middle of a gunfight, right? Refunded. I'll consider buying again if you fix your broken ass game.

Sorry state of microtransactions and broken challenge mechanics.

They advertise a "weekly reward" for doing all of your weekly challenges, but what they don't tell you, is you're forced to complete another unreplaceable BS challenge just to get your weekly reward. They make sure not to mention that so you'll finish all your weekly challenges first, then they screw you over.

This week, it's 5 KILLING SPREES IN FIESTA MODE. If that's easy for you, cool, I don't really care. But for most casual players and people with limited time, asking to complete 15 very specific challenges in a week's time (mind you, that's not taking into account challenges that need rerolled to be more feasible) that's a lot to ask for just the challenges on their own. I don't know if you've ever played fiesta, but it's basically a huge cluster$%#@ and it's almost impossible to get anything done without a rocket launcher or energy sword getting shoved in your @ss.

It's a mechanically great game, the gameplay is crisp and fun especially considering today's gaming climate but it falls short in lack of progression, and over reliance on micro transactions when it's not needed. Because of that, if you read this review I highly advise against downloading or purchasing any content regarding Halo Infinite until some of these problems are addressed. At a certain point, it's not fun. It's not a good team when everyone is %$@#ing around trying to find a specific weapon or get kills in a certain way that detracts from the overall team based gameplay that's supposed to be taking place.

Back to the challenges. It would be one thing to have your progression through the battle pass tied through your kills, stats per game, etc but it does NOT. THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN LEVEL UP YOUR BATTLEPASS RANK (THAT YOU PAY ACTUAL MONEY FOR) IS TO DO CHALLENGES THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE FOR YOUR SKILL LEVEL. Don't like the challenges you're forced to do to progress through the battlepass YOU paid for? That sucks, just buy double XP boosts and challenge swaps. $1 a piece baby! It's honestly a slap in the face to anyone who has played Halo past this game.

TL;DR- Fix your $%#@ 343 Industries. You have something good here. Don't %$#@ it up
