Great open world RPG. What you expect from Obsidian. I didn't encounter any bugs playing on Steam Deck 6+ months after release.

After playing a little bit during a free weekend, well, it's a objective-based squad shooter with a near future main setting (though there are other modes). Multiplayer only, unless you like bots. Pretty generic, but serviceable. You already know if you like this kind of thing.

Other people have covered the gameplay, comparison to previous entries in the series, etc. I'll just say that if you have a setup that was once half decent and is aging into a potato like me and can't really afford to have Steam launch Origin which launches the game and have them both sitting there eating CPU cycles and memory as you look at your FPS numbers and sigh, I don't recommend getting the Steam version.

In fact, unless you just really want the Steam Achievements or Trading Cards, or just have to have everything you play be in the your Steam Library, I'm a little unclear why you'd get the Steam version period. Maybe you just really want Gabe to have more of your money?

Read the other reviews and decide if you want to get the Origin version or not, you can always add it as a non-Steam game if you decide you really need your friends list open while you play or something.

If you enjoyed Final Fantasy Tactics back in the day this will scratch that same itch. It continues to get bug fixes and new features after release which is nice as well.

Cute little farming/building sim. Truthfully I was a bit put off by the building mechanics and graphics to begin with but I'm a sucker for completing quests and building friendships with villagers in these kind of games so I ultimately enjoyed the time I spent with it.

Great Harvest Moon type game. Has dedicated developer who keeps adding features.

Edit: I chose Stardew for my "Labor of Love" nomination for 2024. I first posted this review in 2019, mentioning the active dev, and the game is still getting updates and bugfixes as recently as this month.

To elaborate some on my original recommendation: if you have a nostalgic attachment to any of the older Harvest Moon games, but upon returning to them now find that they don't quite live up to your memories or just wish they were bigger and had more to them, you should play Stardew Valley, if you haven't already.

Great game, improved with the addition of unlockable play modes, additional difficulty levels, and updated graphics and music.

A good dungeon crawl/ Diablo 2 clone. The pet is an inspired element. Just send him off with your loot and keep killing. Looking forward to the sequel.

Innovative, frustrating, and exhilarating by turns. Amazing how much variety of play you can get from a game with only one action and two direction buttons.
