Hat Fortress 2 is a Free to Play MMORPG developed by Valve. It's one of the most interesting and addicting MMOs that I've ever played and it has a really fun economy in particular. The object of Hat Fortress 2 is to collect as many hats, weapons and other items as you can. You can also earn hats by playing other games on Steam, by taking part in promotional events or by crafting them yourself.
One of the cool things about Hat Fortress 2 is that it has a really fun combat mini-game to play while you craft and trade for your hats. It's a cool First Person Shooter (FPS) in which you can show off your hats and weapons to other players.
There are currently nine characters to collect hats for: there's the runner, the rocket launcher, the fireman, the swordsman, the Russian, the turret builder, the archer, the healer and the sneaky guy.
But the question on everyone's mind is, how do you get rich in Hat Fortress 2? Well, the best way to do that is to buy a bunch of Mann Co. Supply Crate Keys and open things called Mann Co. Supply Crates. A Mann Co. Supply Crate can contain either a really rare item or junk, so it's worth to buy lots and lots of Keys and keep trying until you get something good.
Another way to get rich in Hat Fortress 2 is to try and rip people off with the items that you get. People usually refer to this strategy merchanting. The other way to get really rich is to play about 5 years ago. But if you want to merchant, what you have to do is get lucky and get an item for free. You can do this by idling on the server. Then what you want to do is hold on to the item until you can sell it for more than it's worth. If you keep doing this, you will have all the hats you could want in no time.
Now if you want to get a specific hat, but you can't seem to find it, it's a good idea to just purchase it directly from the Mann Co. Store. You might not be able to trade it or use it in crafting, but the prices are really good. Some prices are as reasonable as 10€. Now you could buy a game with that money or even the same hat in real life, but don't you want to see that hat on your character? Or that weapons that's just a resking of another weapon? Speaking of weapons, there's an item in the Store that allows you to rename yours. One thing that almost nobody has done in Hat Fortress 2 is renaming their weapons to a series of bad words. It never gets old and it's realy really funny when it does happen, but like I said, you never see that.
So in order to trade, you will want to go to a trade server. These are really fun, especially if you like hearing other players getting overly angry on the microphone about prices of these fictional items. It's serious business and you will learn a lot.
Now in order to be successful, what you need to do is copy and paste the same "selling stuff" message over and over again until somebody decides to trade you. Then just try and squeeze all the money you can out of them. Don't get too distracted with the combat mini-game, because that is not why you are here.
So basically, if you like merchanting, getting overly upset about how much you think your little slice of Valve's intellectual property is worth and playing dress-up with your characters, Hat Fortress 2 is for you! However, if you don't like these things, you probably are not into MMORPGs in general.
Either way, it's definitely worth trying because it's a free game.
