The game's awesome, but not the Steam version of it.

After many years, I decided to buy and play this game from nostalgia. And man, I'm disappointed. The first minutes of gameplay don't feel any different from what I remember from PS2, but it gets worse the more you play.

Some bugs are not that terrible, but some of them are just game breaking. For example, the cars decelerate way faster than they should after you release W key and some of them "wiggle" on rear axles, which feels really weird. And they also deleted some of the original songs. But you can play with that. A more 'hard-to-get-through' bug is that the Mouse sensitivity option in settings only changes the X axis sensitivity and leaves Y axis sensitivity too high, which makes aiming from weapons hard and unpleasant, especially while switching between targets. I actually found a mod that fixes this issue, so I was happy that I would be able to play with normal sensitivity again and enjoy the game - until I found out that the Steam version doesn't allow modding!

So if you don't necessarily need GTA: San Andreas on Steam, just pirate it, buy a console and play it there or whatever, but keep yourself away from these problems. However, if you want to have it on Steam, there's an option of downgrading the version to the one that works fine.

Now, let's talk about the game itself.

The story contains great characters with unique personalities that make the game really fun. The world is wide-open, with limitless possibilities and many places to discover. Modding makes the game even more fun. You can mod anything you think of: characters, weapons, cars, buildings, roads, textures and so on. Also, if you are interested in a multiplayer, you can play it via SA-MP mod.

There's only one thing that bothers me about the game: Big Smoke and Ryder won't make it. :'(

So do I recommend the game? Yes... but no.
If you're going to play any other version than the Steam one, it's a big yes. If you're going to play the Steam version, it's a big no.

Mom calls 911 about her daughter not behaving:

• She breaks everything in her room! Send in someone! I need help!
- So you want us to come and shoot her?
• What? Excuse me?!
- Erm... it was just sarcasm, sorry Ma'am.

10/10 for the sense of humor.

You basically build your own Emergency services team and equip them with whatever they need. Weapons, armor, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, etc. You get your time before beginning a duty to split your units across the city, which is very helpful and it saves you a lot of time. A big plus is that you can play in many, many cities from around the world, even in the smaller ones from smaller countries.

I like the game. It's challenging if you play it on a higher difficulty, it's funny and I don't really mind the repetitiveness. However, there could be a bigger variety of calls, since it gets kinda boring and it drives me crazy listening to the same woman calling about her kitchen being on fire over and over again.

I didn't expect much from this game since I don't play games of this genre, but I was really surprised. I could play this game over and over again, and this isn't even a full release. It has a great potential and I'm looking forward to see what the game has to offer when it's done.

Quick and easy puzzle game, originally bought it because of the achievements but ended up liking the gameplay too.

This game offers many hours of gameplay, because of the great XP system, awesome stats gotten through the skill tree and the absolutely perfect way of getting gear... ok, not really and here's why:
  1. Even though I don't mind that much, there is no XP from the enemies you fight. Leveling is done by finding artifacts across regions, which isn't particularly convenient for everyone (including myself), but it is acceptable in my opinion.
  2. There is also no skill tree, only artifacts that boost some of your stats, such as increased swimming speed, riding speed, etc.
  3. Getting a good gear isn't really that hard, which leads us to the point, where the gear is locked to a region. This means that once you cross the line of your region, your gear becomes way weaker, basically losing its rarity and stats. You can kind of avoid this by getting plus-gear which works normally in more than just one region.
But let's mention some good things too:
  • The soundtrack is absolutely amazing and there is no point to listen to music outside the game, since the one in the game is calm and relaxing, nicely fitting the game
  • Taming pets helps you fight enemies and travel faster
  • Variety of bosses, ranging from melee attackers to long-range Mages
  • Different biomes, each offering new experience
  • Infinitely-generated world
Final verdict:
This game definitely isn't for you if you don't like (mostly) starting over again, being limited by your gear or enjoy grinding XP. However, that doesn't stop me from saying that exploring and fighting is still fun.

I think if you want to try something new, something different, Cube World is a great choice, offering many hours of gameplay.

One of the best games I've played on Steam. Tons and tons of customization, great cars and various missions. Overall the game feels really good, but it needs the engine upgrade. Hopefully that will make the game more popular and bring it to life.
