Early Access Review
This might just be my new addiction.

Its like that silly Ubisoft Battle Royale (Hyper Scape), done right. Not as fast paced, but with good vertical gameplay. With a bit of MOBA action in the mix ala special abilities for each class of character. Each having its distinct advantages and disadvantages. The time to kill is pretty quick as well, so it won't ever feel like you're wasting three magazines worth of ammo like Warzone or Fortnite.

You've also got NPCs in the mix that can be sacrificed for buffs and NPCs that guard higher rarity weapons. Its pretty good chemistry. You can choose to get into a firefight with those NPCs for good loot and risk all that noise giving your position away or you could sneak around draining civilians for some damage resistance and buffs... but alike some GTA/Red Dead outlaw system, if you do that out in the open and another NPC sees you - Congrats, you now essentially have a bounty on your head in the form of being highlighted through walls for everyone nearby!

One of my only complaints so far is.. make a clear all button for Journal notifications and such.. I don't want to have to scroll through every item to make the shiny icon disappear.

Be mindful this is a 3rd person game, but what could one really expect when you have to jump up walls and climb obstacles? A lot of this game just wouldn't look right in 1st person.

By the time your adventure is over, you'll wish it wasn't. Ichiban Kasuga is the most relatable and lovable character to date. And his adventure is the most human adventure you'll embark on. A story of honor, family, and simple humility. If you think yourself a generous, righteous person, you'll be taken in by the story that unfolds before you. And for a game that started as a hack and slash type of beat em up.. the turn based RPG element feels really nice. I'm almost sad that it's over.

P.S. George Takei is a huge bonus.

While the puzzles aren't as complex as Resident Evil 2 Remake, and the plot definitely seems a lot shorter. The story for Resident Evil 3 is still something worth enjoying. There is one part in particular early in the game that will be possibly one of the uneasiest segments you've played in a game in a while.

This is a remake, so if you've played the original you expect things not to change much, but I'll give credit where credit is do and say upon the first play through they did a really good job in making it SEEM like things wouldn't wrap up the same way. If you're in to the Resident Evil lore as well, read all the documents throughout the game, there's definitely some hints toward Resident Evil 4 which weren't present in Resident Evil 3 original.

You'll also be intrigued to revisit locations from Resident Evil 2 like the RPD station and probably be spurred to play RE2 again after learning how some portions of the station got to the condition they were in and exactly how things got to the way they were in terms of building damage and how the victims strewn about the building met their end. In addition to that, you'll really enjoy some of the characters. Who ever the voice director is deserves accolades, because Carlos has changed from a guy with a stereotypical Hispanic accent in 1999 to a bad ass with a personality and voice that you'll begin to question if he could be secretly voice acted by Keanu Reeves himself.

After all is said and done and you've completed the game to make up for the lack of story choices from the original they've added what is basically an in game shop where you can use earned points to buy costumes and cheats to help you on your next play through.

Does it surpass Resident Evil 2 Remake? No. In my honest opinion, it's on par with it in its own more quicker paced survival horror way. Its a graphically beautiful game, probably even more so than its predecessor and you're bound to enjoy the visuals during your thrilling adventure.

And if you're good lucky enough, maybe you'll even make it out of Raccoon City alive.

Good luck.
