As a player who first played Divinity: Original Sin II first and came here to check out the first of the series, I'm quite disappointed and surprised. Core game mechanics are so bad. (Skip to the last 2 paragraph to read less) For example:

- Crawling Infestation (Master Scoundrel Skill) never killed anybody as it is resisted before it even kills the enemy (during 4 rounds).
- Game expects multiple playthroughs to see little details as you require Perception for secret places, Charm/etc to convince people and crafting etc to get your required gear(hell we couldn't even paint our panties to black or white like come on :D).
- Total playtime for me and my gf was around 80 hours on Tactician (Hard) Mode. We played with lonewolf which caused us to not be able to finish some good side quests (and a few other quests which bugged out completely like Slave and the Master quest).
- The descriptions and explanations of most things are also missing such as Single-handed weapon is still singlehanded if you wield a shield in your off-hand and it doesn't apply to your main hand weapon if you are wearing an off-hand dual weapon. Resetting skills costs you lots of time as you lose all your skills and abilities. We had to test and check these all out one by one to see how they work.
- We missed 1 area of a map and our home (end of time) was raining meteors for like 50-60 hours. It even interrupted progress of main story even though we collected everything.

Some puzzles were not even puzzles honestly, like lighting candles or checking every corner of a wall to see if there is a button there or running across the map by spam buffing yourself with perception in case there is some sort of hidden stash/switch/hatch there. For those people who say just put more points into perception: If you put more into perception then you lacked in Stun chance/Vitality or Action Points which was painful as we played with Lone Wolf & Tactician Mode.

Other than these, as a player who actually played the game for the plot and because it was cheap, plot was fun over all. Except the beginning was a bit slow/boring and the ending was unsatisfactory as we found some nonsense stuff in the plot. The rest of %60-65 of the adventure was fun.

1 final note I want to add: After seeing this state of the game, I praise the developers for moving past these issues as they released Divinity: Original Sin II. Majority of the issues i mentioned above didn't exist in the last game and they fixed it in a really innovative matter so I guess you just have to bear with these for now. If you choose to play on Easier Difficulty modes they probably won't matter much anyway.
