Half-Life 2 for the PC. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the N64. Super Mario World for the SNES. These titles are known to most gamers as the best video games of all time. None of these titles can even compete with Bad Rats: the Rats' Revenge.

Bad Rats: the Rats' Revenge may seem like a below average, old, and clunky puzzle game without a rich story to most, but it is so much more. The story tells the heart-wrenching story of revenge between the rats and the cats. No cutscenes are even in the game and yet it still has the power to engage the player in the best story they have ever engaged in. To avoid spoilers, I will not discuss the ending in detail, but ask anyone who has completed Bad Rats and they will tell you that it was the best thing humanity has ever achieved. The ending of Bad Rats is truly something not only every gamer should see, but everyone.

Gameplay is an essential element for any game, and it is clear the developers of Bat Rats knew this. The gameplay is more polished than any other game that is on the market. Every level feels and plays different than the last, and no level feels boring or uninteresting. Every rat has their own purpose and can be useful in different situations. Levels can be solved in multiple ways, leaving the player to decide how they want to solve the level. Every playthrough is special and unique in its own way. What this game accomplishes in gameplay has never been accomplished anywhere else. It is, yet again, perfection.

Bad Rats is everything the world was never meant to achieve. Perfection should have never been possible in this world. Nothing should have ever been like this. And yet, it’s here. All you have to do is scroll up from here, get your credit card, click a couple of times, and there you have it. With perfection already achieved, what else is there? Why do anything else when there is something objectively better than it?
