Melatonin is okay, but it has a long way to go to match Rhythm Heaven.
The visuals are good and very eye-catching.
The music is great, but it's not very memorable. In comparison to Rhythm Heaven, I still remember more than half of the tracks even though I played it several years ago.
When it comes to rhythm in this game, sometimes the game decides to change the tempo without warning, and when I keep the same rhythm for about a minute, a sudden change in rhythm immediately ruins the Perfect Score.
In Rhythm Heaven, the gameplay wasn't designed for you to watch the screen to see what's happening; you could easily complete levels even with your eyes closed, but that won't work here.
For example, there's a level where you need to press left and right, but the "left" and "right" beats are so similar in tonality that it's hard to distinguish them, and you have to rely on which earphone the beat is louder in, making the game not relaxing after all.
It's like playing Air Rally from Rhythm Heaven without "Pa pam pam pam" and you have only to rely on animations.
This is a bad user experience; the game doesn't even bother with keeping you on the beat. Not to mention that the game's price is too high for just 12 levels.
So I recommend buying it at a discount of 20% or more, and if you want to have more fun and play a game that is thoroughly designed for rhythm, I recommend just playing the good old Rhythm Heaven.
Just pick a any game from the franchise; it doesn't matter if it's a GBA/DS/Wii/3DS version, it will still be more fun than this.
