Every element of Disco Elysium is of extremely high care and quality, and what's especially impressive is that it manages to keep it at the same high level for the entirety of its 30-50 hour length (the game took me around 40 hours to complete). The art is superbly striking, the writing is excellent, the characters are compelling and loquacious, and the gameplay is surprisingly engaging considering it is just narration and dialogue trees, although to say it is merely that would be too reductionist. There is a lot of depth here through the 24 skills which act as parts of your brain. I very much enjoyed the story and mystery of the hanged man and solving each step as a detective was extremely satisfying.

Some criticisms I have is that some of the voice acting is mixed-terrible and the writing can at times be too verbose or go on and on. Also it can occasionally be unclear the path you're supposed to take or where to click on to get somewhere. However keep in mind these problems are minimal and rarely detract from the experience.

In summation this game is a masterpiece.
