It's amazing.

Looks great, runs fine.
Still just a meta-chasing, money-spending, low-attention-span crapshoot.
Movement is completely broken, people are zorping and ice-skating around, which is apparently what the twitch crowd likes.
They went back to little circular loot explosions, so you have to look at the ground and sort through stuff instead of looking for enemies.
Way more fun to watch than to play.

Absolutely incredible. Looks great, plays great, PC port is great.

Controls are a little bit finnicky to get used to, and can be a frustrating learning curve, but once you do, combat starts to flow nicely. Some of the encounters are difficult, but they are usually rewarding.

Worth the 12 year wait. Xen was updated beautifully. You can see the love that went into the project!

This is incredible stuff. More of what was great in 2016, while steering even further to its roots at the forefront of FPS gaming.
I was initially skeptical of the changes in gameplay in the earlier levels, often running out of ammo and becoming overwhelmed by the quick introduction of waves of powerful monsters. However, get a few upgrades in (there are several pages of them, it's nuts), make sure you're utilizing all the new equipment and you'll start to feel unstoppable.
The action is relentless and completionists will find no shortage of unlockables.

Takes a while to get the hang of this. There's really no good tutorial for how to find the best way to do things, you have to find out on your own.
Once you do, the gameplay loop is pretty good and the loot hunt is satisfying.
