I've waited since beta for this game to be full of content and exploration. Now is the time this has happened. I think its a great time to join the sea and fight. 1 caveat having at least 1 friend improves the game massively over solo play.

Edit: Sea of Thieves is a great game, the player base is not. The remaining player base only wants Sea of Murder. They no longer seek adventure or exploration. They no longer seek gold and glory. There is only murder. if you aren't solely focused on PVP the player base will seek to grind out every ounce of joy you once had in this game. There is no joy here only blood.

Edit 2: COOP mode has been added and proven to work at this moment, I am still slightly disappointed by how they limited the mode. But it does now exist and will allow people to enjoy the game without getting spawn camped.
