Game Play - 9/10
The dynamic nature of Garry's Mod is what makes this game so enjoyable. You can have anything from large-scale NPC battles to weird role play. The list is not limitless, since this game is very much limited by its engine, however it offers a large enough list of things to do that it makes the game play entirely up to the person and their imagination. The game modes made available to the player are numerous and many are enjoyable with random people or your friends.

Maps and Textures - 8/10
Despite being released for Half Life 2, in 2004, the graphical integrity and quality for many custom-made maps is extremely outstanding, even by today's standards. The thematic qualities of different user-made maps varies, as one can guess, but the overall quality is very much there. The largest challenge that most maps suffer from is grass texture issues, in which the grass does not load properly on many maps, anymore. This is usually caused by different kinds of mods, but it remains to be a long-time issue prevalent in classic and modern maps. The other largest challenge with the variety of maps is finding specific maps with AI Nodes and Navigation meshes. What these meshes do is that they allow NPCs and different kinds of Nextbots move around on the map. Sadly, many maps lack the nodegraph or navigational meshes needed and so this may limit your choices of maps, extensively, depending on what you're looking for. Another additional problem, one that is extremely common-place, is the need for additional games to be downloaded and mounted onto Garry's Mod. This is a common issue, since many custom maps are designed with custom textures added, these textures can range from set pieces and props, to level textures and many of them are used from other games, such as Counter Strike: Source or Day of Defeat: Source. As a result, not only are you downloading Garry's Mod, but you are also downloading three or four additional games and mounting them in Garry's Mod, to allow various levels and custom maps to use certain texture settings. It's a pain and frankly can make this game harder to justify, when it sacrifices tons of space on your drive. However, these are just precautionary warnings.

NPCs - 7/10
NPCs are a major part of game play and make up a significant chunk of my personal play time on this game. The world of NPCs is vast and features a lot of options, ranging from simple reskinned combine soldiers to fully mounted, configured, and developed custom NPCs with their own base systems and everything. In this review we will be looking at the two most common types on the Workshop - reskinned NPCs and VJ Base NPCs. The reskinned NPCs are self-explanatory, but are essentially the most easily found mods on the Workshop. They are usually some of the simplest and are therefor the easiest to use in your games. With some extra mods and tools, you can easily craft a large and highly dynamic experience with modded NPCs using custom weapons. They are heavily limited by the aforementioned nodegraphing that is necessary in custom maps, but with this exception being made, they are some of the most fun and simplest to use. The other most popular NPC type is VJ Base NPCs, which use a separately customized system and are far more intelligent compared to the base-game NPCs that are simple reskins. These NPCs are not reliant on the nodegraphs and are therefore superior when it comes to using them on more maps. However, they are more demanding on your server and can easily crash your game, if there is too much happening, at once. There is also many mods that use VJ Base, that haven't been properly updated or taken care of, being abandoned by their mod authors, which causes significant issues on your game.

Weapons - 8/10
As previously mentioned, the dynamic nature of Garry's Mod enables you to easily mod and change your game play to fit your needs. This is especially the case when it comes to weapons. The vast amount of guns, explosives, melee weapons, and nuclear weapons that can be downloaded is extremely extensive. Many weapons can range in quality, some being simple and using the default Half Life style and system of gun play to the more modern and advanced gun-modifying systems of CW 2.0 and TFA. The choice is entirely up to you and your preferences, as well as your willingness to try out new and strange things. The use of guns is more prevalent compared to the modding of melee weapons, on the workshop, meaning that most mods will change how guns work and feel, while melee weapons are available, but don't offer a lot in the way of changing game play from the original days of Half Life 2 and using a crowbar. All around, with the advancement of different custom-made systems, like the Grewitch Emplacements and Tanks, as well as the aforementioned gun modifying mods, has seriously unlocked the possibilities made available to you that were previously unavailable.

Engine - 6/10
This game is extremely fun and offers a lot, but the modding community is unfortunately stuck with the current engine of Source. This means that there are massive limits set on the abilities that different mod authors can and can't do. The world of Gmod is sadly condemned to the restrictions set in place, when the developers were designing Half Life 2. This means that massive battles of over several hundred men are not possible, maps larger than 1/2 km (0.3 miles) are not possible, and having too many props can easily dismantle frame rate. The largest of these challenges being that mod authors have basically outpaced the system and severe limitations set by the Source engine. While Source is not a terrible engine, it is sadly an engine that suffers from its age and the numerous limits set for it. The modding community has very easily outpaced it.

Game Play - 7/10
Generally speaking, this game offers a wide variety of weapons and ways in which to handle almost every given situation. The largest factor of this diversity of guns and melee weapons being your tactics and what you personally prefer given every situation you manage to encounter. The largest issue, however, is that this game runs off of a system which suffers heavily from less-than-blessed gun-play mechanics. The guns, themselves, work well and offer lots of variety, but the physical space objects like buildings and environmental set-pieces will oftentimes possess far greater mass than they initially appear to. What this then means is that you'll spend time shooting at enemies, using debris as cover, only to realize your bullets aren't hitting their target and the invisible wall around a structure has successfully eaten all of your rounds. This is largely the biggest issue with Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3, both.

Environment and Atmosphere - 8/10
The details in the environment are decent looking and offer a clear, as well as a well thought-out series of scenarios which enlighten the player to different situations that they are presented in this game. Through the use of ambient story-telling, a player can discern a good or bad situation depending on circumstances presented through their environment. This is what makes Fallout: New Vegas such a good story-based game, is that it utilizes not only in-character dialogue and interactions, but also the environment to wield a story which manufactures the emotions that the player may feel when first encountering them. Through the use of music, voice acting, and running narratives, the player can engage in this well thought-out world through a number of different interactions, whether it be violence or communication. The largest knock on this is that the graphical quality of New Vegas leaves much to be desired.

Game Engine - 5/10
Fallout: New Vegas is a game that is religiously heralded by its fans and it truly deserves all of the love and attention that the writers, voice actors, and game developers put into manufacturing this narrative and story. But, there exists many issues within Fallout: New Vegas, itself, that will require significant amounts of added work to maintain and properly enjoy the Fallout: New Vegas experience. As is customary with all of Bethesda's products, Fallout: New Vegas requires engine fixes, bug fixes, and stability patches to maintain a consistent and regular frame-rate and anti-crashing protocols. Fallout: New Vegas is sadly a game that has been left in disrepair, much like Fallout 3. As a result, one of the largest hassles for people interested in playing this game, will be installing the many different patches, fixes, and mods that improve upon the game engine's many issues, itself. The process, itself, is not hard but requires some patience, in order to save oneself from the pains of attempting to play Fallout: New Vegas without it majestically crashing and burning.

Story - 10/10
Fallout: New Vegas is a game that is played heavily for its lore and story-telling, being that this is one of the most well pieced together post-apocalyptic narrative-driven games that currently exists on the market. The lore of this game is both familiar and yet different, the characters are largely memorable thanks to the vast amounts of options and scenarios that can be played out with them. Elements of real history and Fallout's abstract history tie-in well to create a narrative that helps you better understand the story. Unlike other games released by Bethesda, this game's factions actually matter and there is no singularly defined "good guys" that exist in this never-ending nightmare known as the Wasteland. Commitment and trust are given to the player to make their own decisions and choices regarding factions and who they choose to serve or otherwise. In short, this game offers a lot to players who want to experience a good narrative, regardless of how violent, pacifistic, or passive-aggressive they choose to be. It all culminates to a well-rounded narrative that actually leaves a lot to think about.

Game Play - 7/10
The game play is varied, but mostly boils down to whatever you can do to maximize your effectiveness and survival is what works. Sadly, the constantly changing meta and useless amounts of grind to achieve certain new cards is insane at worst and boring at best. The worst aspect of this game is the level designs, with the new ridden being added only amplifying pre-existing issues within certain level designs. The fact that certain special infected, like the Tallboy, can close the distance between you and your team on a level with almost no view-distance, like Hell's Bells, is ridiculous and cannot be overstated how frustrating it is, when your build is designed to counteract ridden at range. This coupled with the continuous stream of new enemies makes for an overwhelming experience for first timers and a perpetual grind for experienced players.

Environment and Atmosphere - 5/10
The environment and atmosphere of this game can be flatly described as tone-deaf. The world in which this game occupies is largely disjointed and feels weird, not to mention that the actual story behind this game has some weird writing, as well. Characters and their interactions are neither endearing nor thought-provoking in any real way and very little matters, in the grand scheme of things. The environmental aesthetics are also largely to be ignored, since the most it does is inconvenience you and your movement scheme. Musical works and numbers are forgettable as well, since most of this game is a rinse and repeat with very little in the way of it actually making you feel good or happy about doing something.

Enemies - 4/10
The ridden are the all-pervasive enemy in this game and operate as the de facto zombies that you must kill in order to progress through levels. The enemies in this game are largely forgettable, since they offer very little in the way of quality and design. Unlike Left 4 Dead or Vermintide, which have distinguishable movements, sounds, and idle movement sets, this game's ridden are purely designed as lower-quality zombies that will be killed within a millisecond of being sighted by you and your party. Beyond this, the special infected variants of the ridden are largely bullet sponges that will basically eat your bullets, melee weapons, and your teammates without so as much as breaking a sweat. The worst of these is up for debate, between the Tallboy possessing ungodly speed, the Reeker being a literal tank, the Stalker completely stun-locking an entire party, and the bosses being both boring and uninteresting. All around this is sadly where the game play and balance fall apart in the higher difficulties, as well.

Story - 3/10
The actual story and lore of what makes this game tick is mostly dumb. Contrived story elements force you and your party to engage in near suicidal missions off the premise that "it's simply required of you." The characters and their interactions leave much to be desired and you will grow to hate at least one of the many different characters offered in this game. You will purely choose a character based on their perks and special abilities, rather than because they're likable and provide some interesting banter. It almost seems like the writing for this game was done by someone who has little to no life experience when manufacturing a narrative, since little can be said about these characters and anything that motivates any sense of endearment to them. You don't have Francis and Louis's banter or Coach and Ellis's bond, you don't have the humorous dialogue of Saltzspyre and Sienna, and you definitely don't have anything that motivates any real sense of interest in this universe or its characters at all. The camp also has some of the strangest human interactions I've ever heard of in a game. I thought Oblivion's dialogue was awkward, but I guess I was wrong, this game somehow has worse dialogue.

+ The Goods
BioShock is, for all intents and purposes, one of the few games that managed to combine elements of horror with elements of gunplay. Compared to later releases, following the release of Amensia, BioShock remained one of the few games that left you, the player, in a mildly terrified state and sense of paranoia, despite having an arsenal of weapons at your beck and call. While most of this is initially felt in the early levels, you will still experience shock and minor awe at the sudden and radical change of pace that a simple ambush can bring against you. This brings another excellent element of BioShock, the environment, and more importantly the story telling that the environment brings into the game. Exploration in said environments is highly encouraged, but beyond earning random loot and gaining experience and photography skills, BioShock tells a series of different stories, all while still having the main plot moving along. The story of the Lutz family in Neptune's Bounty, the story of Anna Culpepper in Fort Frolic and Olympus Heights, the story of Sullivan across the whole game, and many more are all included in the small sprawls across the Rapture wasteland. This coupled with the environmental story telling, as well, speaks volumes about the numerous experiences and outright insanity that accompanied many in this underwater paradise.

+/- Meh
The base story and all of the elements that compose it are extremely well done, but the only fragment that is largely considered weak, by most who have played it, would be the extremely basic morality system that exists in BioShock. While originally not a major portion of the development, in the initial or subsequent releases, even with this newer release, BioShock's morality system is largely considered it's weakest aspect. While I wouldn't necessarily agree with this statement, it does leave much to be desired and offers a slightly bleak and boring outlook on the little sisters and their moral contrast throughout the BioShock story. Beyond this, BioShock's mini-game for hacking is also critiqued pretty heavily, but offers a lot of zest to helping you fight the enemies of Rapture. It would be foolish to ignore hacking, but it does also become a pain when you're spending more time rearranging pipes then actually shooting or beating enemies to death. The scripting for the different allies/enemies can also be a pain, since you will probably on more than one occasion shoot down a turret or flying robot companion. Most of this is caused by the lackluster flight system and the fact that you're in an underwater demilitarized zone that offers less space than a Japanese apartment.

- The Bads
The worst aspect that will probably earn this title a poor review from some, would be the uncomfortable control scheme. Unlike most first person shooters, currently, this game was developed and released in 2007 and its control scheme suffers the most from this factor. While being a horror-based shooter, it makes you rotate between your different weapons, individually, and then requires that you also do the same between your different plasmids, special abilities, which means that you may spend upwards of 3 minutes just to get the correct plasmid and weapon selected before jumping into combat. Assuming you're not getting beaten to a bloody mess, to begin with. This is partially by design, as it forces the player to become uncomfortable and generates tons of anxiety, but it also makes this game significantly harder than it needs to be on certain occasions. With the aforementioned portions in the "Meh" column having already been presented, it can also be included down here, depending on how much you hate one or the other.

All around a terrific game, despite its age and mechanics.

+ The Goods
Compared to others titles in the Elder Scrolls series, The Elder Scrolls V is arguably one of the easiest and most approachable. It's systems for leveling up, gaining experience, and applying skill points are all incredibly self explanatory. This, accompanied by the overwhelmingly easy-to-achieve sense of questing and duties makes The Elders Scrolls V the most accessible game of the series, thus far. Beyond the basics of learning how to become more effective and being offered a blank slate to work with, no specific classes or racial limitations officially set on you, you are also given and literally handed missions left, right, front, and center which assist in some way with empowering and amplifying your abilities. This brings us to the next point, factions. Unlike most RPG's where you're given a chance to invest into and become fully enveloped by a faction, Skyrim essentially works more like a series of bumper cars with its factions, where you just bounce from one faction to another and gain something from it. You don't even have to officially be dedicated to any guilds and are essentially able to completely ignore the majority of quests to do nothing and be nothing. Along with this non-committal style of play and world-building, you are also allowed to gloat on Bethesda's mantra of being highly moddable and offering a variety of decent mods. This modding is the strongest and arguably the core reason why it is so incredibly dynamic with all that it offers. Compared to previous installations, Skyrim Special Edition and the original Skyrim offer a large number of constantly growing mods and mod authors. This can basically throw a wrench into all of the previous things I cited and make your game easy or incredibly hard, depending on the psychotic path you wish to invest into with your modding.

+/- Meh
Similar to other installations of Bethesda games, The Elder Scrolls V's story is mostly forgettable or largely comprised of repeatable and easy-to-do quests which give off some small amount of loot that is largely, again, forgettable. In an extremely rare moment, you may unlock or find a weapon that does something special, but this is neither a major element, nor is it a major factor in game play. This non-committal style of world building and story telling makes Skyrim the most interesting and free game, while simultaneously being the most uninvolved RPG offered on the market. Power, survival, and money are really what it comes down to, along with your mod tastes and desires for your character. While the player is offered a lot of choice in terms of factions, very little can be said about being involved in the factions, beyond that they're oftentimes going to offer the same series of quests multiple times. The challenge of being invested in story telling with Skyrim is that you really aren't given much in the way of good story material. The worst offender of these will be mentioned later, but just note that none of the role-playing elements in this game are really that invested or matter all that much.

-The Bads
The largest bad in Skyrim is between two things; first the story and its role playing elements. As previously mentioned the largest limitation to the game is that its role play and story telling are largely forgettable. While this is somewhat mitigated by certain DLC like the Dawnguard which offers different major paths to follow, it is largely uninteresting or unchanging in how the world around you develops. This little bit is mostly in reference to the Civil War quest lines and how little actually changes in the grander scheme of things. Certain elements of the openness to game play can outright disable getting any real rewards when playing Skyrim. A great example of this, is that when you receive an honorary weapon for completing one of the first major plot hooks in the early story, particularly involving the Jarl of Whiterun, you receive two weapons that are assigned to you based on certain values and numerical stats. This reward is completely outshined by the fact that I was, at the point of receiving these weapons, completely outclassed. I was walking around with Glass gear and equipment and was able to completely ignore the value that these two awarded weapons offered. This approach to questing makes doing certain things nonsensical on the grounds that you bring better gear and items, anyways. Receiving a gift during some quests would make fighting and struggling in some missions more worthwhile, but in other instances, it's just lazy.

To conclude, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a largely noncommittal role playing high fantasy setting which positions you in a country comprised of undiscovered locations, civil war, and mythological abominations challenging you at almost every turn. The bread and butter of Skyrim is largely the modding, while the actual game and story is largely forgettable. With this dynamic level of customization, one can aim to eventually find something that they'll like about the game, assuming they're not planning on playing a more invested story-based role playing game.

Verdun is an intensive and interactive look into the hardships and struggles of a soldier in the First World War. It provides an excellent and very detailed scope as to what was not only a challenge, but what was also unavoidable on the ghastly fields of Eastern France. Verdun is an amazing game with lots of attention and care put into it by the developers. With this, I will review the best aspects of the game and the worst aspects of the game.

Goods
+The game nails the atmosphere and effects of the war, with not only the combat but with the overall level design and terrain. Muddy trenches, destroyed vehicles, and rotted corpses litter the battlefields of Western Europe. Each of these aspects adds quite a bit of a challenge, too, as certain levels will have terrain that maximizes or minimizes a certain play-style. Hills and walls can be the best of cover or the worst of obstacles which will force you to cower in an effort to just simply survive. A challenge, as a sharpshooter, is to differentiate the bodies littered throughout the wasteland from the men huddled next to them. It is a truly marvelous and chilling experience!
+Gun-play, and more importantly; ballistics makes this game absolutely one of my personal favorites. The shooting mechanics and easy-to-use rifles or other weapons make the experience all the better. Realistic rifle damage and accuracy are also accounted for, as instantly killing someone is not always as easy as it first seems. Sniping a target is a possible challenge or blowing them away with a spread-gun makes the experience more climactic and chaotic. It is, like Tannenberg and Red Orchestra 2, a lot of fun and is something I advise you take the time to learn.
+Forces and units are actually all accounted for and make the game experience more immersive, than anything else. Units ranging from the United States Marine Corps (Devil Dogs) or the German Empire's Storm-Troopers make combat a unique experience and also a learning experience. Units like the Scharfschutze and the Poilus make engagements more calculated and dangerous, while more rambunctious forces like the Gunners can easily lock-down a full section if left unchecked. As such, it also includes the various foreign legions which were present in various battles, which adds another level of authenticity.

Bads
-The game does have a slight learning curve, which can heavily impede your experience with it, depending on your background and preferences in the FPS genre. Rifles fire significantly differently and ammunition and other supplies are not available for those who may seek it out the most. Firefights are claustrophobic and can last full minutes or can end very quickly. The kind of unit you are can greatly diminish your chances for playing opponents efficiently or can maximize your potential. All in all, it's a game about tactics and survival. Good and aggressive fighting or low-level sneaking, whatever wins yourself victory. As such, this may dissuade people who first jump into online matches and get their asses handed to them, so be ready to learn and make adjustments to game-play.
-The community on this game is more alive and does have some form of routine, depending on where you live. Afternoons tend to be the best, for North American servers and players, whereas elsewhere it may be different. If all else fails, there are bots to play against, which you can also learn to edit and adjust their effectiveness, to be more challenging. Here is a link to hosting your own server, if you cannot connect to or find any and adjusting bot settings:
https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1122965561
Otherwise, much like Tannenberg, it can feel pretty empty and unchanging.
-This game can glitch and make the experience weird for some. Ragdolls shaking and launching across the map or occasionally spawning in without a weapon, at first. The game is still good and I love it for what it is, but for some this can be awkward or stupid, depending on the glitch and how it affects your game-play.

Overall, this is an amazing game and is a lot of fun. Simply put, you should buy it and share it with as many people as you know who love FPS games. It's both a fun game and a great learning experience for both the war and the play-styles you'll develop over time. Please expand the Verdun and Tannenberg communities, we need more people and I think more people should know about this game.

Tannenberg is a first-person shooter which is focused solely on the Eastern front of the First World War. The game focuses on the mobile and ever-changing fronts of the East and the colossus empires which fought there. It is a game definitely worth taking a look into for the sake of historical representation and realistic outlook on the FPS genre, as a whole. I'll list some of the best aspects of this game and then lead onto the worst.

>Goods
+The game, itself, has a massive eye for detail and a greater emphasis on the nature of the weapons and units that were present in the war. Units ranging from all classes and nationalities are apparent in the Eastern campaign and you can see this through the appearance of Bulgarian, Romanian, Austro-Hungarian, Russian, and German soldiers and their respective uniforms. The use of historical context is also apparent in how the units speak and what they say.
+The developers wanted to very clearly represent a different front and how it contrasted to the Western front of the Great War. Rather than slow and groggy trench warfare, in which small kilometers of land were squabbled for, back and forth, we can see how in the new Frontlines mode, Maneuver, takes a more open and mobile approach, with trench lines scattered across the map, rather than being defined points of contact and hard defense.
+Graphically speaking, the game is fairly good to look at, with small details being included on weapons, animations, and environments. The maps are set in various settings, but are most fun when playing against larger and more grand battles, making the game feel like the Eastern front. With added gore effects, death effects, and explosive details, the game nails the experience of artillery and grounded warfare, pretty well, and can offer a very entertaining and evolving front to play on.
+The bot system in this game offers a wider variety of play for certain matches and is almost essential for one to keep the game going. The features and options for these bots are also decent and allow for you to edit their accuracy, damage, range, and how many there will be on the map. By default, the bots will work as a way to keep things moving and prevent matches from turning into two man battles.

>Bads
-The game, despite having great gameplay, can feel extremely empty and abandoned. This is an all-pervasive aspect with most of the community surrounding Verdun and can seem somewhat uncomfortable to some. This isn't so as much a negative aspect on the game, as much as it is in relation to the popularity of this game. Sadly, it does not seem like many people are online.
-While some, like me, don't care too much about some of the graphically lesser aspects, some people may not like this but it isn't like it'll break the immersion or experience you can have, not to mention that that is an extremely shallow point of concern. However, it is still a potential bad for some people. The only real point of problem one may have is the occasional glitch of sorts. This is an aspect that varies heavily depending on the hardware and software of your device, so I can't give you a perfect list of possible glitches.
-Movement can be abstract and clunky to many players who are used to more smooth movement systems, like the one used in Red Orchestra 2 and Rising Storm. The movement is actually something that has, to me personally, suffered the most, as the various objects you can get stuck on in the game is rather ludicrous. Trenches, bodies, and even various debris will cause your character to get "trapped" and will make the gameplay feel awkward. Getting shot up by enemies while getting trapped on foliage is not the only downfall, as the use of going prone is also rather lackluster. Rather than "hitting the dirt" and getting to cover, your character will go into a crouch and then transition into a prone position. This lengthens the amount of time it will take to get to cover and prevent oneself from getting shot up. Usually you will die before the proper prone position can be effectively taken.
-Despite having given them previous praise for keeping the game going, the bot system is rather lackluster in the sense that they could improve upon the bots. At the time of rewriting this review, the implementation of a lot of improvements to the bots has seen their use in the field greatly expanded and serviceability more important than they had been before. However, one feature that is rather annoying is how little the bots will actually accomplish in their average game. For example, I may submit an order to attack a checkpoint or position. This will result in the bots on my squad suicide charging into MG fire and attacking head-on until we either overwhelm the opposition or we lose our chance to attack that point. When the position is taken, I usually will order a defense order, but the bots on my squad will simply run off with the rest of the bots and will ignore the defense order, unless the enemy is right at the checkpoint and attacking us. A better, slightly more improved feature that would be nice to have would be having the bots move up as a squad and follow the squad leader, rather than each bot moving independently. This would greatly improve the experience with the bots, since it would allow squad commanders and squads to move and work as a unit, rather than rushing every single position on the map.

Overall, this is a fun game with a lot of care and detail put into it. You should seriously consider joining in and helping with this game and its future, because it needs new players and more people. So look into it and try it out for yourself, I highly recommend this.

They've so neutered this mod, in the name of balance and player vs player, that they've essentially lost a lot of the value and impact that their own designs used to facilitate. The original mod made by Xalibur and the vision that it was created with is completely gone. All that remains is a hollow shell of a dead memory, to be forever lost. Granted, if you're looking for the original version of Blitzkrieg, online, then you can easily find the more original versions through various forums and websites. My suggestion is to look for Blitzkrieg mod from either version 0.480 or version 0.470 (4.8.0.0 or 4.7.0.8). You can easily find them, as for multiplayer and so on, I cannot verifying this or disprove that these will or won't allow for multiplayer.
