Very close to not recommending, graphics are good but the enemies are very frustrating and unfair. They often run towards you even when warded away with the flashlight. You should be able to revive teammates instantly without a defibrillator, would make the game so much better. The game also does not give you any sort of help or objective, making the escape levels extremely difficult. My friends PC with an AMD GPU also crashes every 15 minutes.

That being said, the story levels are a lot of fun and are worth the $7. The devs are actively updating the game and fixing bugs so for now I'll recommend this.

Decent Fears to Fathom inspired game. It uses a lot of the same sound effects - not sure if they belong to Rayll or not but I would recommend the developer try to differentiate it a bit more for copyright purposes.

The graphics are darker and more nightmarish than Fears to Fathom, but at the same time the story feels more predictable and less complex/mysterious than the Fears to Fathom game (where you're always trying to figure out how to piece together the characters after you finish the playthrough).

It definitely could've used a more creepy or intense ending, but overall it did a good job building up suspense and I'm looking forward to seeing more games like this in the future.

OK I'm gonna be honest I loved this game but I'm a sucker for good graphics, the fact is the actual gameplay is 3/4 just walking and the stamina and weight requirements are extremely limiting. Based on the patch notes I don't think this is really worth getting for most people as of March 2025 because the story really needs to be improved on, it's quite boring and enemy AI still seems to be pretty bad. But if you just like good gunplay with beautiful graphics and have a strong PC, it's still a decent game and they do seem committed to improving it well into the future.

Good horror game overall, absolutely terrifying build up. Unfortunately the ending doesn't come close to living up to the expectations set by the build up, leaving you with a sour taste after beating it. I still recommend it on sale but it's too expensive for a 2-hour game, especially one that doesn't live up to Ironbark Lookout or Carson House.

Unfortunately despite how much I love this game, I cannot recommend it to anyone because of the severe and immersion-breaking performance issues. If you play bots on super helldive for more than a couple missions, the game starts completely freezing up for multiple seconds at a time, making intense firefights nearly impossible and extremely frustrating. Never had this issue with any other games and I am nowhere near max RAM nor VRAM (and it never happened before the Into the Unjust update). PC specs are Ryzen 9 9950X, 64 GB DDR5-6000, and RTX 5070 Ti.
Also, the fact that Arrowhead is catering to HDD users in 2025 is absolutely insane, no games these days use asset duplication and long loading times are what you get for using old technology, we should not lose 150 GB because of them.
I could spend an hour over the design of the new enemies but suffice to say Arrowhead clearly has no clue what caused this game to blow up in the first place and has to make everything twice because every piece of new content invariably makes the game worse until they listen to community feedback to make it right.
Now I respect that they do at least listen to us and the core gameplay loop of HD2 is still incredibly good, which is why I have 700 hours, but I am so frustrated with the current state of it that I'm not going to be playing any more until a performance/stuttering patch.

Amazing game, the 0.15 update made it so much better and I can fully recommend it now. It's definitely one of the best SCP games on Steam at this point. Gunplay and environment design (in newer areas) are fantastic although enemies could use more variety.

The game still needs a lot of polishing especially for the game modes other than Area 12, but overall I'm really hopeful for the future of this game.

Very, very strange little game. It's free so might as well try it out; there's certainly no other game like it. I feel it uses the Backrooms more as a medium to tell the Quraffs' story rather than actually focusing on the Backrooms itself, so if you are looking for a "liminal space" game, I would look elsewhere. That being said, it has some very unique gameplay elements and of course an interesting story (although it feels unfinished), so I would say its benefits outweigh its downsides.

Incredibly atmospheric short backrooms game. I've watched videos on nearly every other backrooms game and there's only one other that even comes close to how good this game looks and sounds (Lost Tape). It perfectly captures the environment of Kane Pixels' videos if you've seen them before. It is just a walking simulator but with how scary even this is, I can't wait to see what the upcoming sequel will be like (which will probably be a more fully fleshed out game). I would strongly recommend replaying the first level, as it's massive and you won't discover all the interesting sections of it in your first playthrough (there are multiple elevators).

As a side note, I also think the first version of Level 0 (the one shown in Markiplier's video) is far superior to the current version owing to its excellent use of shadows and long hallways, so I would recommend downloading that using the Steam console for probably my favorite Backrooms experience of all time.

Fantastic horror game overall! The setting of a World War I bunker is very well crafted and the monster is terrifying. Gameplay is also great and gets more and more interesting as the game progresses (and you get new items). The game is capped at 60 FPS due to physics engine limitations but I personally didn't notice it at all (and I frequently play other games at 120+ FPS).
My only suggestion would be for the map to be at least somewhat procedurally generated (like SCP Containment Breach), which would help with the replayability greatly. I know that was a major focus of this game due to its shorter length, but I still don't think randomizing items makes it that replayable. However, overall, this will easily be one of the best horror games of 2023, and it's well worth the $25.

This game was good for a while, but now it's dead and the developers are clearly showing no intention to continue updating the game. The gameplay has a great foundation but gets stale and repetitive quickly, in addition to the game being very poorly optimized. Therefore, I can't recommend anyone play this unless the devs start releasing a lot more content (which definitely won't happen until Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 releases).

The Phase 3 update also removed a lot of great things about the game, such as host migration, the feeding pit, the ability to invite friends to a game, private lobbies, the waiting area, and the tutorials, although the core gameplay is still there.
