There are quite a lot of reviews from people with hundreds of hours naysaying and not-recommending the game based on silly little issues. The lack of new content or the rng involved in getting god-tier weapons may frustrate after 600 hours of gametime, but that doesn't seem to stop the people who don't recommend the game from playing hundreds more hours!

The proof is in the pudding really. Even the people not-recommending the game have played hundreds or thousands of hours and continue to do so. The game is excellent. The atmosphere is incredible. Every weapon feels so satisfying to use. The music and sound design generally are incredible. Enemies are so satisfying to kill. And even after 200 hours, the missions still feel fresh enough and the gameplay is so satisfying enough to keep coming back.

My only reservation is that this isn't a solo game. If you can guarantee you're playing with at least one person you know and have on voice chat at all times, the experience is much better. The quality of randoms is generally not good. I would not recommend playing this game without anyone to play with.

It really does pain me to say this because I was a huge fan of EG1 back in the day, and was following the development of this one.

The game captures the same vibe as EG1 immaculately. Sound, graphics, designs, all spectacular.

Unfortunately the game just isn't that much fun to play.

Juggling the world map is much less micro-intensive than in EG1, No more forgetting about it for five minutes and losing half your minions to a roaming agent. But instead you're now rationing "signal" that takes more actual management to map out the world, and you are punished for doing so by having heat continually rising. There's no stable way to play and it feels like a continuous juggling act, since you need money to pay minions. So in the end it becomes more micro-intensive than before as you're having to keep track of lockdowns and timers and how much you can get a scheme done and whether it's worth permanently expending minions on.

There are far fewer traps than in EG1 and a lot less you can do with them. Since your base it limited to two specific entrances, you can't set up false trap-halls to lure agents, since you need your entrances to work for tourists and minions. So basically traps you do set up are more likely to end up killing tourists than agents.

I don't think any of this is unfixable really, but right now there just isn't enough.

Gorgeous looking game, and a surprising lot of fun! It's not very deep, and the interface can be nightmarish starting off, but one you get to grips with it, it's an addictive little trade sim. Kind of mindless after a while, but the progression is nice. I got this for about £4 and I consider that a fair price. I wouldn't recommend spending £19 on this.

In all, decent mindless fun.
