I've tried similar style games balatro/ballinaire. They seem solid but too involved for me, where I've found Nubbys to be much simpler and easy to just jump in whilst needing to pass some time.

While not officially supported on the steam deck, the simple controls make it work perfectly and the music is so chill to have going.

100% give it a try if you enjoy the idea of these games, but ever found the others too complicated for the vibe you want etc. if unsure try the demo, while it does have some things missing it still gives a taste of what to expect

At first this game looked quite abrasive I thought it was a joke game that the community was in on.

Not long after I became quite hooked on the game.
The mechanics are fun.
The game is fun.

Goes down with Deux Ex as one of my favourite games.

This game has a lot of "iffy" components and while very fun these components could have ruined the game.

But.

The microtransactions I've not felt the need to buy, and then I bought one? All others I've earned by playing. While I prefer none, not being pushed into them is at least the next best thing.

The sony account was also walked back which I didn't see happening esp with sony earning coming up and "player numbers" always being a good point for them to push.

All in all game is fun and the devs have made the live service fun to be a part of while also avoiding making it a pay to win hellhole.

This history generation and just stories that come from it are what make this game worth learning no matter the jank.

Year 104 - A thief was seen taking an artefact ring. My captain of the guard interrogated a few dwarves around at the time but most had no additional information.

4 years pass and I see in my Fortress the ring listed, so I check where it is. On a human!? So I send my captain to to interrogate him.

He has been active for around 50 years trying to pull of coups and infiltrating cities for some unnamed individual. His current name is an alias and after failing to steal the ring himself in Year 103 he influenced another person to steal it in 104. After 4 years the case is finally closed and now I have leads on a coup as well as the name of the person that stole the ring.

The human tried to run but was quickly slain by my guards. At last the ring has been returned to my fortress.

performance is ass

game is great.

more of BOTW style open world than a Skyrim/Fallout style - wasn't a fan of it in BOTW but been vibin it in Elden Ring.
