Jordan Terrell Carter (born September 13, 1995), professionally known as Playboi Carti, is an American recording artist from Atlanta, Georgia.

Carti began his musical journey in 2010 as Sir Cartier—a twist on his last name that was also indicative of a growing interest in fashion and luxury brands. In May 2013, he changed his artist name to Playboi Carti and joined Awful Records. The production behind most of Carti’s earliest works was handled by Awful Records' in-house producer Ethereal, who helped him garner a local following. Carti frequently collaborated with family friend and fellow Zone 3 rapper UnoTheActivist on songs such as “Whole Thang” and “Every Since.”

After graduating from North Springs High School in 2014, Carti moved to New York. There, he became acquainted with fashion tastemakers Ian Connor and A$AP Bari, who introduced him to A$AP Rocky at SXSW in March 2015. Carti later became affiliated with Rocky’s creative agency, AWGE. A month later, in April 2015, Carti released singles “Broke Boi” and “Fetti,” respectively, which proved to be viral hits in the underground rap scene. On September 10, 2016, Rocky announced at a show that Carti had signed to Interscope Records.

Under Interscope and AWGE, Carti released his long-awaited debut commercial mixtape, Playboi Carti on April 14, 2017. The record featured two of Carti’s biggest singles, “Magnolia” and “wokeuplikethis*,” which propelled him into the mainstream.

After months of gaining buzz and momentum from his successful debut mixtape, Carti released his debut studio album, Die Lit, on May 11, 2018. The album included popular tracks “Love Hurts,” “Shoota,” and “Poke It Out.” Die Lit exemplifies the power of simplicity, featuring effortless vibes and hypnotic flows that result in catchy, uncomplicated tracks. On certain songs, notably “FlatBed Freestyle,” Carti explores different vocal inflections and emphasizes his Atlanta accent in his delivery.

In 2019, Carti co-founded and curated Opium, his record label based in Atlanta, Georgia.

On December 25, 2020, Carti released his widely acclaimed sophomore studio album, Whole Lotta Red. Initially, the album received mixed reviews, with many fans feeling it did not meet their expectations. However, as time passed and Carti continued performing songs from the album, the general consensus shifted dramatically. It is now regarded as one of the best modern rap albums of all time.

On March 14, 2025, Carti released his highly anticipated third studio album, MUSIC.

Title: “Through the Noise”
The music echoed through the dark corridors of the studio. Playboi Carti sat on a leather couch, watching as Ken Carson, his protégé and friend, poured his soul into every lyric, every beat, every breath. The energy between them wasn’t just about music; it was something deeper, something built on trust, ambition, and an unspoken understanding of what it means to be opium.

Carti leaned back, his thoughts drifting to how far they'd come. The late nights, the wild shows, the quiet moments where it was just the two of them, away from the crowds and lights. It was never just about fame—it was about creating something together, something that would bring them even closer.

"Yo, you good?" Ken's voice snapped Carti out of his thoughts. He had stepped out of the booth, sweat dripping down his sexy body, paired with a grin on his face.

"Yeah, I’m straight," Carti replied, standing up and giving Ken a nod of approval. "You went hard in there."

Ken chuckled, grabbing a towel and wiping his face. "Gotta make sure I’m keepin' up with the opium daddy" he said.

Carti shook his head, smirking. "Ain't no keepin' up. We’re in this together."
It wasn’t the first time they had this conversation, and it probably wouldn’t be the last. But every time

Carti said it, he meant it. He saw something in Ken that reminded him of himself, that sensual hunger, that desire to prove the world he's different. They shared the same dreams, the same desire, and the same love for the craft that had brought them so close to each other.

As the night wore on, the two of them sat on the rooftop of the studio, the city lights sprawling beneath them. The sky above was clear, stars barely visible against the light pollution, but it didn’t matter. They were here, together, and in moments like these, everything else seemed irrelevant.

"You ever think about where we'd be without all this?" Ken asked hesitantly, his voice quiet, almost submissive.

Carti glanced over at him. "Sometimes. But I try not to get stuck in the 'what ifs.' We got here together just us against the world, bro. And we ain't stoppin'" as a bulge in pants starts to appear.

Ken noticed, understanding what Carti needed in the moment, but there was something in his eyes—a mix of alpha and sexual tension. He knew that without Carti, none of this would have been possible. He had taken him under his wing, shown him the ropes, and more than that, Carti helped him become into the passionate lover he is today. They didn’t need to say it out loud, but the bond between them was fully erect.

Suddenly, Ken stood up, his gaze locked on to Carti. "What would I ever do without you?" as he leaned in for a kiss.

Carti leaned in locking lips with Ken,while sensually gripping onto the opium chains on his neck.

Carti pulled him closer while removing their clothes, rubbing his big strong opium hands all over his ripped body. "That's 'cause we built different. We ain't just flyin', we soaring." Carti said poetically.
The two made intense love on that rooftop that night, side by side, the weight of the world beneath them but feeling lighter than ever. In that moment, it was clear that no matter where life took them, no matter how high they climbed, they would always have each other’s back to blowout.
