The Mass Effect trilogy is one of my favorite game series of all time. Despite its ending, the game's story is massive, charming and memorable. Shepard's story is one of the most compelling and engaging experiences I've ever had in a video game, and when this came out, I just knew I had to jump back in and experience the war against the Reapers all over again. I last played the entire trilogy on the Xbox 360, although I do own it on PC as well, so I can definitely make some hopefully helpful comparisons.

One thing I'd like to note is that it's pretty annoying to have Origin load before the game itself launches, but I've heard rumors that they may be removing that in the future, so that's nice. The photo mode is a nice touch, and you can get quite creative with it, although it's unusable in certain areas that I wish had it available (specifically in Despoina waters during the Leviathan story). Being able to resume your saves straight from the menu that allows you to pick the game you want to play is very helpful, as it allows you to get straight back into your last save. The graphical options could be better, as I hear the 21:9 support is not that good at all, but that's not a massive dealbreaker for me, personally. Lip syncing could also be improved, I suppose. Regardless, still an absolutely enjoyable game.

The remastered version of the first Mass Effect game is the highlight of the Legendary Edition, and compared to when I first played the game on the Xbox, this version is so much more tolerable to play through than the original version. The UI is cleaned up and more pleasing to the eye, and the planets don't look super ugly and dated as much as they used to. It's nice to see the ME3 version of Femshep backported to the first game, as I much prefer that look. There are some hiccups in the graphical area, such as Anderson's bug-eyed look, as well as the lack of access to proper graphical options that others have already covered, but overall the graphics are clearly a massive improvement over what we had before. Overall gameplay is so much better. Using melee attacks and sniper rifles are probably the two highlights for me combat-wise, because 1) melee attacks felt clunky to execute on the original version, and 2) snipers don't have that ridiculous sway anymore which made it annoying to use. Removing weapon restrictions for other classes also add to the overall customizability of your Shepard, which is very fun. Using the Mako doesn't feel as clunky anymore either, which is great. I do dislike how you can't seem to hit the max level cap of 30 (assuming you use the new leveling system, which is an option you can change for those who preferred the 1-60 level cap) in one playthrough, as that means transferring saves to ME2 doesn't give you the maximum benefit. I should mention that transferring my basically 100% complete save (did all the sidequests that I believe was available to my Shepard and visited every single planet) somehow rewarded me with a save file transfer bonus of a whopping 1,507,000 credits, which got me a cheeky in game email that reduced this to 999999 credits, which was still more than enough to set me up easily for the early game. Still, definitely the highlight of the entire remaster, as my eyes don't hurt anymore due to how much cleaner the game looks now compared to before. Unfortunately, this version of ME1 does NOT include the Pinnacle Station DLC due to issues they had regarding the source code, which kinda blows because I remember there being a unique armor set that I could get in that DLC, but since it doesn't really affect the rest of the game anyway, and it's not important to the story at all, I suppose I could live with that. If they add it back in somehow down the line, that would be great though.

Mass Effect 2 definitely looks better as well thanks to the graphical upgrade, and it was noticeable, but not by much. This is really more of the same Mass Effect 2 we all know and love. I appreciate that all of the DLC items are available at the many shops, as well. Playing the original version of Mass Effect 2 and getting the DLCs was such a tedious task considering that on PC we'd have to go to a website to buy the DLC there instead of through Steam, so this is still the best way to play Mass Effect 2, purely due to DLC accessibility. Thankfully, only bug I really noticed was an issue with the Hammerhead scanning sound being VERY painful to hear, otherwise this one was pretty clean. Kinda wish they also removed weapon restrictions for all classes here as well, but in this game it's not a big deal IMO. One thing I wanna note is that I wish they removed the Hardcore restriction for getting the Geth Pulse Rifle on Haestrom, but that's a nitpick, really.

Mass Effect 3 also looked quite similar to the original version, and was the least noticeable in terms of graphical improvements to me. I especially disliked how some cutscenes looked absolutely low-res compared to others (such as the final Alliance space fight during Priority: Earth). I feel like those could have been graphically upscaled. Maybe in a future patch it will be. This game also felt like it had the most bugs to me. While these bugs weren't constant, they were still a bit surprising. Examples include:

- Teleporting on top of tables if I collided with a certain point (such as the table where Aethyta stays, as well as the one in the gun batteries where Garrus usually works at)
- Managed to twist my entire body around myself during a conversation
- Had abilities not fire off even after activating them, had to repeatedly click on them to get it to work
- Watched EDI ascend to the heavens during dialogue in Dr. Bryson's Lab
- Exploding headshots would almost NEVER happen. I had it happen twice over the course of the entire game. According to my limited research, this definitely is a bug, because some people would report that the headshots were fine, while others would say that it would never happen.
- The Always Prepared achievement (Buy 2 non-customizable armor sets) would NOT trigger unless I bought 3 armors. For reference, I bought the Blood Dragon and Reckoner-Knight first, and only upon buying the Inferno armor did it finally pop up.
- I don't know if anyone's had this occur, but my game didn't have the M-11 Wraith available through Spectre Requisitions. I distinctly remember it being available there, so I don't know if this was a deliberate removal, or if it's just a bug with my game.
- Absurdly terrible mouse sensitivity when probing planets. Like, really bad. I think this issue was in the original PC version of ME3 as well.

These were probably the only bugs I had occur over the course of my ME3 playthrough, and these seem like easy fixes for future patches anyway. Other than that, Mass Effect 3 is still an absolutely fun game to play through, although that ending is still pretty underwhelming. I scanned every single region of the map for every single war asset I could find, and ended with a TMS of 8372, which is way over the top of course, but hey, it felt pretty rewarding to max our that green bar. Managed to sit through the pull-up section at Shepard's apartment as well, and got everything from the Silversun strip games. DLCs were absolutely the highlight of the 3rd game, and playing through them all over again reminded me of why that is.

Despite these bugs however, you are absolutely getting great value by buying the Legendary Edition. $20 for each game + all the DLCs except for Pinnacle Station is a pretty good deal. I'm confident that they could fix most of these issues over time, seeing as these are honestly pretty minimal issues to fix compared to what other bugs newer games are plagued by (Looking at you, Cyberpunk) and if they add ME3's multiplayer back in, then this becomes an absolute must buy based on that alone. I'm definitely recommending this game to anyone who wants to experience this amazing journey for themselves.

I don't remember how I got this, probably in a Humble Bundle. I got the card drops, then decided to play it, and honestly it's an RPG Maker game that's too long. I already learned this stuff through other means in a few days and that still took less time than how long it took for me to play this game.
