I really love this game but recently they rehauled the matchmaking system so that Snow Day is now on a competitive, ranked playlist. I would like to play the game without having to deal with toxic trash talkers and people who are solely dedicated to ranking up. So, until Snow Day is back on a casual playlist, I do not recommend this game.

This game was pretty fun when it was still in Early Access. It was accepted that the game was flawed and part of the fun and charm was that you would regularly encounter a bug; the results of which ranged from frustrating to highly amusing. Then the game launched, officially, but the bugs were still there. Okay, no big deal, most games ship with known bugs and in the internet era, these can be patched. So you wait until the first patch comes out. And then the next patch. And the one after that. Increasingly, these patches do little to improve the gameplay experience. Hacking would still be pervasive, rubber-banding and lagging still a major issue, your sights would clearly be centered on a target but you instead shoot the window-sill. Meanwhile, the new content being added to the game introduces things that seemingly no one asked for: pay-to-open loot crates; an emote system (???); then eventually new game styles and maps. But, the original issues still persist, so now you have new and exciting ways to experience bugs and suffer unoptimized gameplay. It became quite apparent that the focus of the developer was to encourage micro-transactions, with little regard for stabilization or optimization to the actual game. Understandably, those things cost money and take time, and are therefore kicked to the bottom of the priority list, while emulating Fortnite has suddenly become the top concern. But it's too late. Fortnite has already eaten PUBG's lunch, and PUBG is more concerned with legal disputes than trying to make the better game. It's a shame. I used to have a lot of fun playing this game.
