I'm glad they are fixing this DLC now. Genuinely, after doing the majority of my eclipse climb before most of the fixes and especially before the item fixes, the DLC was pretty frustrating at some points. But now I get to directly see how things get more consistent and enjoyable.

SURVIVORS
I will say, after adapting my playstyle for the new survivors, I like them all. I know people say False Son feels very unpolished (true) BUT GOOD LORD there is something magical about firing a minute long laser beam and laughing as you watch the boss' healthbar drain like soup through a colander. Chef is definitely weak, but honestly I enjoy playing him super close range. The only thing I don't like about Seeker is that sojourn makes you take curse in eclipse 8, which kind of blows (she got rexed)

STAGES
The stages are great. Some will say they are too large, which I understand. Sure that means you spend more time on stage one or etc, but this has been an issue since the last DLC. I feel like if the base movement speed was a little faster, it wouldn't be so frustrating. The stages are aesthetically pleasing and just a wonderful thing to explore; I just wish there were more stages in the pool OUTSIDE of Path of the Colossus, so I got to experience them more often. ALSO GIVE THEM BETTER BOSS POOLS. STOP PUTTING XI CONSTRUCT ON STAGES. Thank you. Overall, love the art direction and the lore and implications with the DLC stages, especially the callback to Providence's Gilded Wurms from RORR and ROR1 in Helminth Hatchery. AND THE NIGHT STAGES ARE SO COOL!!!! W LOOPING

ITEMS
GOD THESE ARE SO MUCH BETTER. Now that the new function is there, gearbox can simply adjust numbers to make some standout broken items a little more fair (antler shield being the best speed item and providing a bonus 43% move speed at one stack is wild) But overall, a satisfying experience. I'd rather the game be easier and fun than stupid hard in an annoying way. Too many items to go over one by one, but they're pretty much all good and have varying applications to different survivors. One thing I will say is how good the reds all feed. Red items in this game have a huge problem. Half of them are fully garbage. Having 4 new reds items that are pretty much always good or amazing is such a breath of fresh air. I am so sick of seeing Wake of Vultures and Happiest Mask, which could use a small buff. I am so sick of red items that barely do anything, like Aegis and N'kuhana's Opinion. Rejuvination Rack is a big deal on just two survivors. There's so many stinkers in the legendary item pool, and I'm glad this DLC adds some items that feel very strong to use.

ENEMIES AND FALSE SON
This patch is coming soon, so I'm holding out. but for now. Scorch Wurm and Halcyonite. OH. MY. GOD. Nothing better than summoning Halcyonite and getting sent 200 miles into the sky only to land next to it and have it's damage hitbox extending long after its attack and die on impact. And SCORCH WURMS. You're telling me an enemy I can't hit for periods of time can spawn as overloading, has perfect cross-map aim, AND ITS ATTACK HITBOXES PERSIST AFTER THE VISUAL EFFECT DISAPPEARS??? The only enemy I like is Child, and they're still annoying, but like, a normal every-other-enemy-in-this-game type of annoying.

False Son is the most janky boss I have ever fought, but if I'm being honest I still liked the fight more than Voidling. There's real potential here, so hopefully I can come back to this review with a positive note to this section after the fix. The laser is so bad. It's not even about dodging it, it's that being exposed to it for even a second is enough to nearly kill you. Also, the last phase where he takes your skills away is simply stupid. It's a stage 4 boss, and most of the time your abilities are almost all of your movement by then. So you just. Die? He can easily outrun you, even with a few speed items.

OVERALL; I'd recommend this DLC at this point. The item changes are showing a shift in the dev's fundamental understanding of the base game, and things are looking up. The last patch even introduced some bug fixes that Hopoo themselves never got around to. I hope to see more of those. Now just fix the weird knockback on artificer's ice spear, and we're cool.

Large game companies are often ridiculous. They push deadlines that kill their devs doing the actual work on the game, and their forced to release a product that isn't working, and then forced to work overtime for the company's reputation. Buy the DLC, but think of the management when hating on parts of it. The devs seem seriously committed to this IP.
