You're not really exploring, you're just struggling from jump point to jump point. taking a job and delivering it costs like 5 minutes.

I was expecting something like ETS 2 meets space engineers, and although it does, it does not in the ways it mattered to me.
you get to fly around the truck in a spacesuit to fix hull breaches (but the seismic dampening/ artificial gravity is way too much) and you have to connect to the trailer yourself and deliver it. but you're going to spend more time fixing holes and trying to back in a trailer while quietly sobbing sweet lullabies to yourself to calm you down, then actually flying around in a spaceship that is very hard to keep between the highway brackets the game made for you, and flying through debris isn't really fun either.

it plays somewhat like a film where you sometimes get to do something, it really isn't an open world where you get to do missions. that takes away a whole lot of what the game could've been. it feels like random snippets are being stitched together with (unnecessary) chapters and cut-scenes. if you want a great experience, I'd rather play mafia 3 again then finish this.
sometimes you get to die 20 times over. sometimes the game will ♥♥♥♥ you over entirely, being made apparent by the wildly different scenario you sometimes find yourself in after reloading a checkpoint. sometimes the game will just freeze for no clear reason. the mechanics aren't bad, you only get to shoot and drive though, and if the story was immersive, maybe that wouldn't have been a problem. but the way the story was told didn't pull me in, but let me know I was an observer.

Honestly the game is playable, but it doesn't feel like a payday game and more like a generic heist game in my opinion. I feel like a lot of the mechanics from payday 2 are missing here; concealment, the way perks were done and crime.net are a few from the top of my head.

After a few hours of playing I decided to put the game down to go back to payday 2 and play some shadow raid. The fact that I'm longing for the payday 2 mechanics while playing through the uninspired and linear 'new' heists makes it that I don't think this game is deserving of the title 'Payday 3'.

I think the stark contrast between the games can be traced back to the fact that the brothers that created the original payday game and we're involved in creating payday 2 are no longer working on the game.
