I wasn't sure if this game was going to be for me.
I love x-com and turned based strategy games in general, but I don't like Into The Breach.
That said; I love this game, it's somewhat similar to Marvel Midnight Sons, X-Com and a puzzle game.
Honestly I very much doubt i'd have stuck it out if not for the "Rewind" feature the game has, it's a god send for idiots like me to figure out the puzzle element of the strategy without getting punished and starting over again.

Great game, would definitely play any sequels/dlc - fantastic game.

And the humour... just hilarious. Love it.

It's still relatively early doors for a review at 15 hours.
But I can say so far with certainty that if this game gets the same support and community behind it that X-Com does, it's all set for the makings of a classic turn based strategy game.
The music and animations are all excellent and the storyline is more engaging than most games in the genre.

At just over 30 hours, I don't see me revisiting the game for another playthrough to try and get the stuff I missed.
This is 30 hours of one playthrough from the start to the finish, so i'm certainly not complaining at the amount of gameplay value here. It was a good game, whilst there was still more to do I'd just reached the point where I was happy for it to end before boredom/grinding overtook what had been a fun game.

Good little story hidden away in a slow reveal.

Would love to see some more building mechanics though.

Most the other games I've reviewed I have felt pretty clear cut about for better or worse.

This one however is a tough one. I reached the "soft" ending of the game, before it turns into what essentially is a really long grind to get that extra bit of cutscene. At roughly twenty hours in, I couldn't face that anymore.

The game had ceased to be fun anymore and I was glad it was over, watched the ending on youtube, sign off, uninstall.

For the first 10 hours, the game was a lot of fun, new features slowly creeping in, new strategies being developed. Good stuff, then the grind started to rear it's ugly head. Get captains, get warlords, get fortresses, rinse repeat. It was all getting a little dull and I really had to slog the last 2-3 hours of gameplay to get to the end because the I was purely wanting closure on the story and was sick of picking between attacks pattern A or B or stealth off a roof over and over again

For all of that, it's barely a recommendation, more like : I recommend this for under £15.

Played through this game with my 3 year old son, he loved every minute of it!

If you're familiar with the Lego games this very much the usual faire with the some of your Marvel favourites, to keep things new they include a host of B and C list characters, I'm a huge comic book fan and I still had to google more than a few !

Some great humour as usual and whoever suggested "Hey guys, we should make it so if you are near a Strong Wall or an Electric Panel and change characters, it should default to someone who can do it". Thank you, the Lego games have needed this for soooo long.

Would recommend as a nice fun family friendly game!

Mind blowingly good, I can't get enough of this game, I played this on a friends VIVE and it is the sole reason I bought one of my own.

It's good on your own, even better in co-op. Although have fun being player 2 in the mines :D

Just finished this game, I will say I had to start a second playthrough, skills are important and characters with dumped intel really suffer for skills and things to do. So after reading a few guides I decided to start a second playthrough. With a better rounded party and more skills to get involved with challenges it made for far more interesting gameplay.

Dialogue - only certain characters are voiced and then rarely, but this is more than made up for by the excellently written character dialogue and conversation pieces. Some very excellent post-apocalyptic sarcasm to be had :D

Game play - loved it, obvious comparison to other genre staples aside, the game has a really smooth challenge curve, very rarely did any fights feel easy. Keeps you thinking and planning.

Storyline - Excellent, particularly enjoyed the way the post ending wrap up is handled.

Thank you to Ehrgeix for recommending this game to me!

The road from A-Z:
The next game on my journey through my playlist in a mission to complete the whole damn lot!
Whilst this will show on my library as 0 hours played - I actually completed this on the x-box when it was still fresh and new; so I am not going to replay it on steam - that said - you could and should, it's a very under appreciated and good game, while some of the skills are abusable and sometimes the AI a little laughable, the over all story line and mechanics make for an enjoyable experience.
Highly recommend!
Next game: The amazing spiderman

The amazing spider-man game is at first glance your typical movie game, the recreates and follows on some of the plot from the movie and is mostly focussed around the infection from Dr.Connors. The story is enjoyable enough and just about makes this console port bareable. The game play mimics the Batman Arkham series, building up a combo and then finishing off the mooks, only the animation and "feel" of the combat feels rushed and unpolished, or you can stick to the roof and silently takedown everyone, this part of the game feels forced and the AI is terrible, takedown one and just walk off the whole room forgets you ever existed. The gameworld is open ended between the linear story missions and the option here for some side quests, but these are unneccesary and repetitive (unless you are a 100% kinda person, which I'm not so much).
As with a lot of console ports - if you don't have some form of control, don't even bother booting this game, I tried for an hour and it's unplayable.
Recommend: If you are a spiderman fan and absolutely must play every game with him included. (Just go play MUA2 again)
If this isn't you, skip it.

Next game: Amnesia: The Dark Descent

The road from A-Z:
Well, this game was the first in my library on my mission (albiet slowly) to complete all the games in steam library (208 at time of writing). The games story is predictable at best and not even the motion tracker succeeds in building any tension in the game during the marine campaign. The sound track and effects are decent, many sounds will be familiar to any one who has played or watched anything in this series. The gameplay is nice in a few of the set pieces but for the most part is repetitive, the developer includes different types of aliens for you to combat against but could have really used the opportunity to invent their own and create some dynamic gameplay.

Onto the next game: Alpha Protocol
