Don't mess with Democracy. changed review.

What can I say? The game was/Is great. I'm not going to bash the Devs on this one because If you like the game and you have it and your friends are still playing it, then you do you! This negative review is solely against Sony.
To be honest, there are many reasons that this game did amazingly great for an Indie title. We live in a world where AAA game studios have interests that are not aligned to creativity and user experience. We keep getting the same bucket of garbage over and over again and it feels good when we receive a GEM like Helldivers.
With that said it was a great refreshing feeling to know that Sony was aligned and backing the success of Arrowhead. It was almost ground-breaking that we had Helldivers be as successful as it was and in my own subjective experience.

Sony's backpedaled decision to hold our paid game hostage unless we comply to give them more information is not settling great for a lot of the Steam Community and I wish I could put this behind and forget about it, but there is just too much fallout and too many have moved on. For this reason, I cannot give it a positive review or recommend it to anyone needing to deal with Sony's insane decision. I'll probably revisit this at a later time and change to recommended, assuming Sony keeps itself in check or lays out Terms at the moment of purchase. We can probably assume future Sony titles with require accounts, but at least let us as consumers decide to comply with these terms before purchase.

I wish the best for everyone to continue having a blast for Democracy!

Not in it's current state.
I really wanted to like this game. It seems to have annoyed me more than enjoying it. #1 complaint which is the ultimate game breaker for me is the mushrooms. Mushrooms are like one of the main resources in the game from weaponsmithing (Mushroom oil), to the main healing resource in the infirmary and also for food items. It seems like the AI does not replant any of the items needed to sustain a renewable resource and thus "Uses" it weather it be by eating whatever mechanic that uses the mushrooms. Once they are gone from the world, they are gone and even buying from the overwolrd does not help with this problem either since they do not sell these items.

There also seems to be a Block of Granite grind that is never ending with the nations attacking and never easing up on it. So you're basically just forced to have an endless Quarry Grind sending materials to repair your neighbors.

There are several other resource items that behave in the same way also. I've read on the forums that people have complained about this as well but i'm not sure why the game released knowing this was a problem.

Regrettably, I have recommended this game to friends and family and they have been complaining about the same issues as well. Until some of the issues with the game gets fixed, I do not recommend getting Hammerting until these game breaking issues get resolved.

On a side note; The "Livestream" of some European dude playing the game seems to be a loop of the same dude playing the game.

Early Access Review
There is still known bugs about people connecting to someone.
Example is when a game lobby gets started, maybe, just maybe, you might be able to join a friend but it says that the password does not match when a password was never even set in my games. We've even tried to trick the game into putting a password and yet still says that there is an invalid password. Patches keep stating patch after patch after patch that this is fixed, yet i don't understand how they fixed it.

Last patch they also stated that they fixed the amount of feathers dropped in the game for the new "Feather roof tops" however they've only addressed the feathers near the starting point and every other feather in the game still drops only 1 feather.

What can i say? This game has the potential for great things, but the development progression is extremely slow it it does not feel like they really care enough for this game.

The final straw that got me to finally uninstall the game was not being able to raise a downed friend. It should not take 4,5,6 times to raise someone.

The crafting system is pretty terrible when it comes to snapping pieces together. Building is Terrible.

Sorry if this is a negative rant(which it is), but I can't recommend something obsidian does not seem to be interested in updating. I'll give it a try next year maybe to see if it will help me change my review.

This game.... I can't stop playing it. You can literally play fresh every time. the dynamics of the different types of weapons, combos and Challenges. You can either take it F1 style of trying to get through the game quick, or take your time by trying not to get touched.
Playing this game makes you feel like Tom Cruise learning how to be a bad-ass alien killing machine.
Highly recommend.

5/10

What can i say, this game has some creativity. There is, however a lackluster feel to it now that I've spent quite a bit of time invested in it.

Pros:
- Looks good. Blocks and design connect well together and offer a beautiful design for creativity.
- Controls. 1st and 3rd person perspectives are not bad, but not that great.
- Items. Lots and lots of items.
- Boss fights are very fun. All in all, if the rest of the game had you gearing up for the boss of this "Zone Tier" I would
change my personal rating of 9/10.

Cons:
- Patch has 3 more bosses? Seems like they just recycled the first 3 bosses into "Hard Mode"
- Items. Lots and lots of items. Most are not very useful, so i tend to eschew over half the items in the game.
- The dungeons seem empty. Pre-1.0.1 most dungeons did not have memorable enemies. Skeletons that dropped the same items.
- NPC interaction has dialog that feels very empty. Finding some NPC's out in the worlds at first makes you feel like they may be important. Until you realize that most of them just say Dig or something obvious. Got me to mentally mark NPCs as probably not very important.(This may have changed since last patch)
- Portal loading and frequent disconnections. After doing light searches on this problem, there seems to be an issue with a few hosts disconnecting and essentially crashing the game. This only happens when loading. I have trouble shot this with some forums and got no results on fix. (Maybe fixed in new patch)

All thoughts are pre-patch and will revisit the game soon to see if it may change how I experienced the game. Though the concept of the game is great mine-craft style smoothed out, I could not see myself spending more than 10 hours playing this game through the end. I spent most of my time in this game exploring most areas of all maps only to realize they had shortcomings and had me feel as if most of the maps were vast wastelands.

I think the game is geared to appeal to very young players. My 9 year old nephew absolutely adores this game and I log on with him to spend the time away just enjoying him enjoying the game. So in that sense, I do recommend this game for the younger crowd.
