fun campaign, needs a little fiddling to get running well on modern systems.
the american campaign is a piece of cake, but the british & russian campaign have some really hard segments (i played on hardened, veteran is just silly really)
without idle time it took me about 9h to beat the campaign, with a lot of retries in the russian campaign

cute & beautiful game.
not sure if i can call it fun though. considering how cute & beautiful it is, it's surprising how often the main character is killed by being crushed, ripped apart, or drowning, over and over. very frustrating at times.
i do still find the main concept neat though: being an unraveling piece of yarn that can tie itself to certain points while only having a limited amount of yarn

This review is for people who played the original Mirror's Edge.
I remember people complaining that the open world in this game seemed small or unnecessary and not well desigend for fluent running, and you just end up following the new runner's vision.
I can just say that I really like the open world in this, I simply deactivated runner's vision. The open world keeps getting bigger as you progress, so that it never is so big that you can't navigate it by memory.
The story and characters aren't amazing but that's not what Mirror's Edge is about anyway.
Combat is alright and most of the time you can just run away if you don't like it much.
The movement mechanics are great.
There are different types of side activities to do, but they are not essential. Just try a couple of each type to see which ones you enjoy. My favorite kind is the dash, not a fan of the diversion opportunity. Be aware that the dead drop deliveries spawn endlessly.
The way I played the game was to initially do a lot of the side stuff (since it makes sense in the story) and then when the urgency in the story picks up to just follow that until it seems fitting to go off and "earn some money" again and so on.
A negative point is that the progression system is pretty pointless, since you only get helpful unlocks by completing the story missions. Most freely unlockable skils are pointless (like extra damage against enemies or extra health type stuff) that I refused to get because the combat is already easy without them.

I'm about 70% through the story at 17h played and fully recommend it so far.

Notes:
- runs perfectly on Linux via Proton
- AA implementation leaves some jaggies, i added a combination of SMAA, FXAA & LumaSharpen via VKBasalt to get rid of them

Great aesthetics, wacky story, changes up the gameplay a lot (various vehicles, on foot, jetpack, with guns, highly varied environments, some with a twist) to keep things fresh. Great soundtrack.
For me the hardest and most annoying part are the controls on foot.
I played a lot of Trials HD on xbox360 back in the day, and must say this game is quite different, so don't expect a proper trials game. This feels more like a total conversion mod.
In a sale this game is a good deal for some hours of potentially quite challenging fun.
The story seems to progress no matter how ♥♥♥♥ you ride as long as you cross the finish line. To get the most of this game you should strive to get a good rating on the tracks you find enjoyable, so that means replaying them till you git gud

good platform puzzler with a couple of combat sequences. a lot slower pace than the newer tomb raider games, but the tombs being raided are much more interesting to solve, with multilayered puzzles across each level
