It is a classic RTS and one of the first to introduce so many game elements we take for granted in modern RTS games.

Simply can't load the campaign at all. Game starts up pretty quick to the main menu. After 20+ minutes the campaign never loads. Re-installed and same issue. I even let it sit over 12 hours which didn't get recorded as played time by steam and it never loads. No game, no play, no fun, waste of time.

First off this is a Technical Demo and not a Playable Demo. You won't do much in the demo but move the camera around and watch animals walk around a small planet. Most of the negative reviews seem to be trying to point this out and take some issue with it. Technical demos have a place and allow you to see what this game engine might look and perform like for the actual game. They do have Alpha (game is in Alpha at this time) and Beta access if you pre-order kick-starter-style via their website and this demo should let you know the game will likely run at desired settings before you buy.

So if you are consiering buying into this game at the current Alpha pre-release then do yourself a favor and try this demo out first.

Overall I felt the planet size was a bit small but that's in line with what I expected. The balance of resources mention has me concerned that they will push the "global warming" aspect a bit far but we'll see how that plays in the game later.

Finally a worthy successor to Master of Orion 1 and 2 has arrived. The game runs smoothly on my older system and looks fantastic. I'm not real happy with the combat mechanics yet and I'm a bit on the fence about the star lanes aspect. Need more stars on the map but this is really looking like they did a lot of things right. The game runs well and is playable as is. I haven't run into place holder text yet and it's clear they are putting in content updates when they are complete and ready for inclusion in the play of the game.

Updated for Early Access 2 release:

Updated combat is a LOT better than their first Early Access 1 release. Diplomacy still stinks badly. New additions and rebalances of the racial traits are showing they are making some progress towards a very playable release. Indicators are that the difficulty slider is just an economic boost. Would be nice if this were more impactful than just BC per turn.

Game still runs very smoothly and looks quite nice. They did a rebalance on some audio and that makes the intro to the GNN clips a bit low volumed when they start out on my system.

Still eager to see how they impliment the espionage aspect of the game. Playing as Darlocks was one way I really enjoyed playing in the originals. They were quite under-estimated with their spying focus and could really wreck opponents.

Some place holder text here and there but this game is very very massive. You won't run out of places to visit in the game. Well no time to write more about the game, too much to explore!

Still has a few issues but this one is a lot of fun and the balance problems can be overcome through playing the game. Modder friendly space strategy 4X game that I've been real pleased with. Runs smooth and stable for me even after playing for hours straight.
