it feels clunky.

imo, unusually slow movement speed. ever find yourself in gunfire? good luck, because you'll only be able to walk out of it, at which point you are probably already riddled with bullets. this is made worse by the fact that the game menu is a physical one, where you have to walk around, slowly. if i want to go test a weapon, i have to go and walk down the corridor and down the stairs. this is time that id rather not waste, and rather spend playing the game. i understand there's a novelty to having a police station as the menu, but it has only frustrated me.

this is only compounded by my other frustrations with the game. not being able to turn off swat bots, enemies being able to shoot through walls. and my most hated element, that i have been killed by many times; when an enemy runs into you, your gun gets put down, you can no longer shoot them. this doesn't mean that they cant shoot you though, and they will. you can attempt to strike them, however i find this almost never works out, and feels unnatural.

now, i do have mods to change the game more to my taste, and they have been nice and i am content with them. but since the last update, those no longer work, and haven't been working for a month now, the devs have properly broken modding. which is what has prompted me to write this review as i swiftly recall all my frustrations.

i imagine the devs are nice and well meaning people, but it feels to me that the management and/or shareholders screw them over. they very clearly rushed to release and despite the lack of polish they still think micro transactions are warranted. sorry if i'm overly critical but comparing this to early robocraft 1 (which i believe is reasonable to do as its a sequel), it feels like a downgrade despite the new systems. doesn't feel funky enough.

best of luck to freejam, sorry that i cant provide more specific feedback but if i see this game improve i will be sure to change my review. i like the idea of the building system but i recognise its very difficult to get right.
