If you know and like the board game, you will probably love this one. Chances are that some the cards will make you raise an eyebrow when played by the AI, but apparently the official rules are implemented correctly here (looking at you, Shifting Allegiances).
The most fun I had playing this game solo, by far.

A simple gameplay loop: be owned if you lag, own others if they lag.
It's free to play and the customizations, while sometimes pretty, are actually just eye candy (and I wish there was an option to force the display of just the "vanilla" skins, because sometimes it's hard to realise who I shot/who shot me).

The game really shines through its designs, a ton of personality presented by a very diverse roster of fun characters and players who don't disconnect after being downed & actually understand what's the ebb and flow of a battle royale game (and not an arena shooter - unless you're going for TDM, in which case have fun).

I think that this great and transparent game engine/mechanics combo + same great writing + a license from the Expanse universe and... you've got yourself an even bigger sleeper hit.

Which is to say, of course - BUY & PLAY THIS GAME, BELTALOWDA!

Also, the aesthetics in this game just stick to one's eyeballs and are hard to shake - so elegant and stylish!

This is DOOM, make no mistake. Guns, demons, speed, a kickass soundtrack (this time more metal than anything else). The arcade FPS was never gone... It just needed a solid reblast from the past. And this is definiitely it. Worth all the time and money you put into it - and more.

Early Access Review
I bought it mostly because of the Android:Netrunner connection (one of the developers is a pillar of the community, many testers are expert players) and because of the positive reviews here and there.

It's a great little game that has a megaton of replayability and will keep entertaining and challenging you for many hours, as long as:

+ you are into deck-building games
+ you like power-combo turns
+ you consider failure a part of the learning process
+ you give peace a chan... no, wait, SLAY THEM ALL

I have not completed a successful assault on the Spire yet, but every time I lose I just smile, remember what I learned, and promise to beat it next time... and I'm getting closer ;-)

Really looking forward to the official release, amazing 3D graphics, music by Mick Gordon, loot boxes, an e-sports league, and all those things that will actually happen once the game is out of early access.

If you like turn-based rogue-lite deck-builder games, this is your poison.
If you never played anything like it, but would like to try, it's probably the best gateway solo-player title out there at the moment.

Like many others here, I have to say that Elite:Dangerous in its current state (early 2016) is a great space flying and landing simulator with almost no substance in between. There is not much "game" in this at the moment, and while there's a LOT of potential, what you get right now is a great engine with very little meat thrown onto its gears.

It all looks beautiful. It let's you pilot stuff with mouse & keyboard just fine (probably the closest I'll ever get to sitting in a real space ship zooming past giant stars), It's not a game.

Some asides...

1. It's AD 3302, yet I have to fly spacecraft *very* manually, and attempt manual landings at huge space stations? Come on, I hoped that space-faring/living humans would be a bit better at tech and would manage to scrape together a decent automatic landing system. Self-driving cars in AD 2015, anyone?

2. You start as a lowly pilot with a crap ship (unless you bought into something cooler - just like life, eh?), very little money, and there are almost NO missions for you to get more money from (I managed to find two, both of which were too far for me to fly to in my space tugboat), mining is too expensive to start with at the beginning (no, really, you can't afford the crap you need for mining), and making money through trade is borderline boring. Gotta love the future, where all you get to do is marvel at space while tumbling around in your tin can of a vessel.

3. Every single tip/tutorial video I've seen online for E:D is made by people with a British accent (and I don't mean only the developer, I know about that). Just like in Hollywood movies, all space people watched BBC ;-)

Having said all that, I am looking forward to E:D becoming a really great, complex, and fun (!) space sim game in the future. Maybe before AD 3302 ;-)

It is really as good as the promo videos show. It took me a while to get used to the new handling (I used to play a lot with a Logitech Playstation-like controller), but now I know I probably won't be able to play with other controllers. The haptics are great, the ergonomics are OK, even for people with big hands.

5 Lives promised a spiritual successor to Syndicate, and they have definitely delivered.

Get your miniguns spinning, and plug something into your clone's brain - it's going to be a long, dark, and rainy night downtown.

It's like Altitude... but with cars! And 3D! And no weapons!

In short, it's genius and you should get it right now.
