The ending is worth it!
Is the game bad? No. Is it good? Also no.
I clearly see how the authors were trying to add as many non-standard/unique elements to the game as possible. Not all ideas are good though, but the game is relatively unique because of all the small details.

Things that I originally didn't expect from the game:
1. 90% of gameplay is in closed quarters. And the "open-world" part feels even more claustrophobic because it is always hostile. Only underground facilities grants safety :)
2. A lot of melee combat (like in Dead Island or Dying light).
3. Puzzles (inside test polygons) are decent for an FPS. Not as good as in Thalos Principle, but better than in other shooters.

Not the best game in the world, but it was created with love and care.
With the fully open modding tools and generous community, this game could be improved indefinitely.

I've played _all_ FarCry games, and I'm afraid, this is the worst one. To a point I'm even writing a negative review for it.
This is a shallow, completely washed-out game of a previously great franchise. The series was gradually getting worse and came to a point when not a single aspect of this game is even remotely good.

Graphics are just generally bad: low poly plastic models, bad effects. Even 4K textures don't save it. Mind that this game is from developers of Cry Engine which competed with Unreal and IDTech at its prime. Just sad.
The game setting is weird: all references and jokes are from modern US, absolutely nothing reminds about any Caribbean country or even any Latino county...
Dialogs are stupid, characters' motivation is non-existent.
NPC interaction is limited, number of NPC models is... 6 or 8, excluding missing characters. I once got a captured base of road checkpoint filled with the same-model NPCs. The pathfinding is atrocious and probably worse than in first Warcraft games. And all NPCs are super slow...
Game is extremely easy (except masters special ops). For example, you almost never get to finish bonus objective at a military base because you silently(!) killed everyone by running(!!) through the whole base to that bonus objective...
The grind in that game is somehow more pathetic than in previous games of the series. Even less variety, even less rewards, and super trivial to do. I'm usually fine with griding and getting all or close to all achievements. However, for the first time I don't want to do not because getting them all is hard, but because it is absolutely boring.

One of the best games in existence. Holds perfectly well in 2024.

Hell of a game! Don't Judge it quickly even if you don't like Metal!

Give it 2-3 more years to come out of beta.
Too many things are missing.
A lot of small UX details, that you were relying on after 10+ years, are gone: you can't even check damage anymore (the thing on top of the HUD is completely useless for at least 5 reasons) or close the buy menu in one key press, or rebind close button...

If you loved old Commandos or Desperados series or simply love puzzle\tactic games, you cannot miss it!

One of the best games ever made. Not only because of gameplay, but because of story depth.

Best game in the genre, period.
