Early Access Review
If you grew up playing Battlefield Vietnam and similar titles, this game is for you. Don't be turned away by the look of it, mods easily make it excellent visually. This game makes it incredibly incredibly easy to install and use mods. You can even add and remove mods from within the main menu.

The shooting is very satisfying, as every bullet is visible - you get immediate feedback on your shooting, and it lends itself to a feeling of fairness. There is some disbalance, but nothing obscene enough that you notice it at first. The unmodded first six hours of play were a joyride.

This game is very customizable, allowing you to restrict weapons, decide what, if any, vehicles each side gets, what points on a map each team gets, and respawn time. But there are some lacking customizations, such as respawn time for the vehicles, a separate respawn time for the player, and full manipulation of the inventory system.

Well worth the current early access price. Ravenfield is my go-to replacement for boomer shooters, to play while thinking about something else, to relax, or to listen to videos while playing.

This is the worst DOOM game I've ever played. Neither 2016 nor Eternal live up to the rush of what modders have produced for the 27 year old version of the game. Doom3 was at least beautiful aesthetically as a horror-shooter. Eternal doesn't care for your immersion with its Mario mechanic implements, its incredibly weak "Doomguy" (who is voiced and sounds awful - cringe levels of awful), and your constant weapon-swapping because it wants you to play Doom in a specific way and punishes player liberty by severely reducing your ammo.

The only commendable thing was the music, but it appears that they've parted with Mick Gordon recently.

And now they're injecting a kernel-loader, which is an absolute no.

I still wish I could've gotten the refund I requested on day 2 of release. Oh well. Never trusting id or bethesda again I suppose.

Early Access Review
This is my first Steam Review.
I bought Doom Eternal and Bannerlord.
My DE remains unfinished at <10 hours of barely-fun play.
Meanwhile, I hadn't pullled all-nighters gaming in two years until Bannerlord. As of writing, this game has fulfilled my bang-for-buck requirement of $1/hour of enjoyed playtime. If it wasn't for obligations such as "work" and "family" and "preventing starvation", there'd be far more hours into this.

Ignore the comments whining about bugs. They almost made me not buy this game. I have 0 regrets. I don't care how long it was in development for and how it shouldn't be Early Access. It *is*. And the devs are working *tirelessly* in response to the community. There's been a patch just about every day. This product is in safe hands.

Are there bugs? Yes. Are there balancing issues? Oh yes. Can the latter be modded? Heck freakin yeah.

Speaking of modding and those developers, if you dig around the game files, so much of the game is open to sight and very data-driven, just begging to be modded. And it has. As a fellow developer, I incredibly respect how they've made this game, and how open it is. It's the right environment that I haven't seen since Skyrim, and I can only imagine this one will be better.

The gameplay loop is incredibly satisfying and addicting. And finally, a modern big game that doesn't shame the player for cheating and lets you do whatever the *HECK* you want with the game YOU OWN! Want a challenge? Go for it. Want a power trip? Heck yeah, make it! Want to manipulate the game to weave your own story like you did ten years ago with Skyrim commands? Slap the developer console mod on there and have at it. It'll only get better.

My only complaint is that it's not on GOG! But like the rest of the bugs/issues, I'm sure that'll change in time.
