This game is worth every cent.
Even every cent of that $5 increase that people are moaning about.

I've got 323 hours on record as of this review. If you like games with excellent QoL features, easy mod support, multiplayer that's quick and easy to set up, and countless hours of replayability, then Factorio should be on your list. It runs beautifully, even on low end hardware, because of excellent optimization done by these developers.

If you like the idea of creating a factory and optimizing the logistical systems within, then this game is for you. If you like waging an environmental war using pollution to drive the natives into killing themselves on your walls, then this game is for you. If you like trains, this game is for you. There are lots of reasons to like the game. It's well made, better than most. If any of this sounds appealing to you, do yourself a favor and grab this game.

Unless you don't like the idea of spending all night playing because you're too immersed in the game to stop, I guess. Then you probably should stay away for your own health and safety.

Regarding the price increase Complaints

Most products in the world go up in price over time due to inflation...it's actually somewhat strange that games sort of don't. Things tend to be priced at what people are willing to pay; here we see a dev treating their game as a product, and pricing accordingly. People are still buying it despite it not being on sale, so a sale is clearly not needed to get people playing it. It's still selling well 7 years later? I know it's tough to swallow, but maybe that means its underpriced. If you bought in while it was undervalued, you're lucky. If not, you're just paying what it's worth.

Additionally, lots of games increase their price. There are lots of reasons for this, whether it's leaving early access, adding substantial amounts of content since launch, or to account for expansions that have been wrapped into the original game after they've been out for ages: World of Warcraft is a good example of this.

The oddest part here about the complaints is that the people complaining are, almost by definition, customers who are in no way affected by the price increase. It's petty, childish, and shows a lack of understanding of economics to complain so bitterly as to join a review bomb about it. A sale is used to lower the price temporarily in order to sell the game when the normal price isn't moving the volume of transactions you're hoping for. Factorio has seen remarkably consistent good sales volume, so why would they put it on sale? It's entitled to think that a developer should put a game on sale simply because there are people who haven't played the game yet. By that logic, developers should all just give their games away for free so everybody could play them.

TLDR: Game good, worth the (new) price, ignore the review bomb bumpkins who disable comments on their reviews

Do you like cuddly games? Games that make you feel good about yourself, or coddle you as you bumble about in the world? In that case, stay away. Far, far away. If you like having the entire game beating you down as you scratch and claw every minute of survival out of the world's vicious and bloodthirsty talons, then you should give this a try. You will only slightly regret it.
