Early Access Review
I wish these guys luck. It's an interesting concept but I don't see how they will pull it off in practice.

Jump scares have their place but it's all this has to offer. If they don't work on you they don't work on you. To make this work I think they'll have to ditch this whole open world thing and go for a linear story driven concept. Will that get screams? I dunno, but a "What the ♥♥♥♥!" or "Wait, WHY?" reaction might be a better route. Now will starting from 0 on every fail condition in that type of game work? I dunno. This is a tough one.

Grab it if this stuff works on you.

I'mma have to give it a thumbs down sadly. IDGAF about the bugs, that'll get sorted. If your rig can handle it the graphics are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ next level. The setting is great. But the quests/missions...

There's the main quest line.
There's around five secondary/character quest lines.
There's maybe 3-5 tertiary quest lines
There's maybe 3-5 "Mysterious person"/Random Encounter type quests

Most of these are pretty good. Didn't love all of them, kinda hated one, but fairly solid overall. The issue is...that's about it.

Beyond that though there's:

1. "Fixer" missions. A couple of them pull the rug out from under you, but that's it. Only a couple. They're all either fetch quests, go kill the bad dudes quests, or maybe one of those two BUT BE SNEKY.

2. A couple of variations of "Crimes in Progress" missions. These are all "go to the blue dot on the map, shoot the generic bad guys, press 'f' to collect exclaimation mark"

3. Four or five each of street racing and brawler missions.

4. Uh...if there's anything else I've forgotten about it already.

And that's the problem here, there's maybe 30-40 hours of playtime to fully complete (ignore mine, I walk away from the computer and leave ♥♥♥♥ running all the time). Half of that is just sprinting from map marker to map marker then double jumping around while vaguely pointing an auto aiming pistol in the direction of red chevrons. Once you hit a certain level none of this poses any challenge even on the harder difficulties. But when you're done you get an achievement!

There's no reputation system. Doing missions for one fixer doesn't piss of another. You can't conspire with Fixer A and B to rip off Fixer C. Nor can you work with the law to take out a fixer or something like that. Every district in the city has its own gang, but these gangs serve no purpose. Gangs provide absolutely no content whatsoever they're all just red chevron dudes to double jump pistol wave at. They look a bit different and yell different voice lines or something.

Nothing you do outside of the primary and secondary quest lines matters, at all. And that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks.

Meh, had an itch for a big, minless, open world game. It's that but barely.

Biggest beefs:

1. The controls, there's something I just don't like about them. I find them floaty and unintuitive. Buttons and keys can be remapped but that's about it. This would be fine if there was some sorta lock on/auto aim/visiual que on what hitting the button would do (wanted mindless, not git good) but that doesn't exist either. Shooting dudes winds up just being floating the cross hair over the hit box (spray and pray), grappling up hills or buildings is completely hit or miss (aim for top platform, wind up hanging upside down from top platform), driving is terrible, the wing suit just seems to be a date with the ground.

2. It's empty.

3. I don't want to drive to a garage to get things, If I can have cool unlocks air dropped to me then let me have cool unlocks dropped to me. Don't hide them behind some stupid beacon mechanic that forces me to go to a garage.
3a. Choppers seem to like to roll over if the air drop lands on even the slighest incline, blowing them up immediatley and wasting the stupid beacon.

It's a good game. It's nice to look at, it's got great atmosphere, a good story, and it's the first time I've had navigating by map and compass in a video game not suck.

It's overpriced, should come in at around 50% of what it's going for. While it is a good story it ultimatley doesn't resolve anything, you end up at the same crossroads you started at, which was disapointing.

Not good.

Combat consists of you getting mobbed and that's about it. Which would be fine if the execution wasn't terrible. Every fight devolves into dodge-attack-dodge-attack and nothing else. Worse yet, some of the mobs are endless. You'll go to kill a boss in a 'stronghold', get mobbed, take everyone out, start going after the boss, another mob rolls in. Sometimes another boss will get involved in the fight at which point don't bother.

There's no targeting system so far as I can tell. Every input just seems like a suggestion. Sometimes you'll have to 'interrogate' a specific NPC. You go to do that, get mobbed, are unable to grab the NPC you want because you can't target him, it devolves into dodge-attack-dodge-attack restart the mission (because he died in the process).

The combat is too reliant on finishers. Again, fine, whatever, it's just that they don't work. It takes 3-4 seconds to do a finisher, and you're vulnerable during, since combat consists of nothing but being mobbed you can never finish one. You'll go to snuff out the guy you just knocked over, get hit, and he'll just stand on back up. Which means that, drum roll please, it devolves into dodge-attack-dodge-attack

There's no enemy variety, like four different kind of orc and one animal that isn't just fodder. Each orc type requires a different tactic to take on as you'd expect. The issue is you'll get mobbed by multiple orc types at the same time, since you can't target you can't intelligently deal with that, it devolves into dodge-attack-dodge-attack restart the mission (because you died).

The controls are hammy and confused. You'll try to scale a wall and it'll just keep triggering your dash ability. You'll have to chase after a 'terrified' boss to finish him off, you'll wind up scaling random walls.

There are side "quests". I love side quests. These side quests suck. There's no meaning behind them, just pointless treasure hunts. Find this glyph just because, find this hidden item and hear a little story you're in no way engaged with.

Frustrating, repetitive, and boring.
