As someone who has played every OMD game (even the MOBA-esque OMDU). I have to say that I'm a huge fan of the direction that Robot Entertainment has taken the series. I'm not usually one to write reviews, but I had to support one of my favorite games after seeing the complaints people have written here.

I've played about 4 hours thus far, all solo. I can't say if it's harder or easier to play the game with friends as I've only played solo, but I was able to consistently get to the third "bet forward" without upgrading any of my traps. I'm guessing once I've invested a little more into the characters and traps I'll be getting further with little trouble.

The biggest draw for me is the rogue-light elements. It takes the OMD game and makes it so every run is new and fun. There's a level of fun choice that you have to make when you're selecting the level you play. I've risked trying levels I hadn't tried before just because I didn't like the negative traits on some of the other levels or vice versa. I've changed my traps between levels because of the traits I've gotten and my play style. I feel like I could sink another 30 hours into this game before I get anywhere near getting tired of the game. It gives me that "just one more run" feeling that I get from other rogue-lights.

A lot of people have been complaining about the barricade limit, but I like the restriction. It felt that in every OMD game (except maybe OMDU) there's a "perfect placement" for the maps, but in Deathtrap, you have to think on your feet. Sometimes some sections prevent you from placing barricades and traps which create an interesting puzzle of trying to figure out how to best utilize the tools that you've brought. It makes it such that I can play the same maps, but have it still have them feel novel. Although I will admit, I do love it when I get the "double barricade" or "additional barricade" traits. It's kind of crazy how something like "there are limited barricades" has caused people to go so crazy.

As a solo player, I prefer playing the ranged characters, but more so because I can stand back at safe points to take potshots at the enemies. There's an advantage to playing the melee characters, but I prefer the playstyle of hanging back and playing kind of safe. It's still fun to run around as the bear or cat and just slash all the orcs down to giblets though.

I have run into some small issues where I couldn't place traps where I thought I should be able to place traps and one time in which I managed to cancel out of launching into the level on accident. Nothing that was game-breaking or took away from my overall enjoyment.

Overall, I would ask you to at least give it a try and form an opinion on your own. You have two hours or a week to determine if you like it or not. XD

Low stress game that is easy to play during the 5 minutes in which you are waiting for something to finishing updating or installing.

There's a lot of potential here and I'm excited to see where development goes. There are some quality of life issues and some AI kinks that need to be hammered out, but even so I had a great time playing the game. If you like Sim games, you will love this one.
