This is my first Disaster Report game, and I loved the experience. The way it combines Japanese RPG elements, Visual Novel like structure, and the earthquake simulation and destructible environments to keep the world changing around you makes for such a fun combination. The survival elements are quite easy to deal with, and while I think it would be interesting to see them pushed a bit further with some more challenging situations, seems like they're there more to provide some interest between story elements which are the main focus.

If you want a weird story centric game with a ton of charming characters, a constantly shifting tone, where it can go from ridiculous humor to dead serious and super heavy and right back at the drop of a hat, this is the perfect game for you. It's not for everyone, but if it clicks it is a game that you'll love.

This visual novel is an incredible ride into sadness. The setting is so immersive and gives you such a great understanding of WW2 Japan, and the characters are so well written that you can't help but care about them and their relationships, and feel for them when things inevitably go wrong.

That said, it's does come with some big trigger warnings. The murder part of murder/mystery doesn't pull any punches, being very violent in their description and imagery, and the nature of the crimes is very sexually charged.

Also, there is an instance where, during an investigation involving pixel hunting, clicking clues in the wrong order (which the game doesn't tell you about) can cause you to miss a vital and non obvious clue that locks you into a bad ending. Use as many save slots as you need and save before every investigation and every choice.
