I will fully admit that the main reason why I even got this game was because of the Team Fortress 2 promo hat you can still get from it to this day, and that was quite a while ago for me.

Flash forward about a year and I finally sat down to give it a go during a night of boredom, and ended up being pleasantly surprised at what it had to offer. I tend to suck at puzzle games but this one managed to keep me gripped and not make my smooth brain quit out of frustration. Fun level altering mechanics, nice soundtrack, sense of humor (you can literally punch someone 1000 times in a row and die to a slow opening door), and a short, albeit fairly predictable plot.

Overall a fun time if you have a few hours to kill, and enjoy stealth games and/or detective stuff.

As much as I also love Portal 2, it really doesn't hold a candle to this first instalment to me. It's sheer eeriness and atmosphere, on top of its short length making it easily replayable start to finish (much like how I replayed it before writing this review), makes me revisit it far more often than the sequel.

Like I said though, I love Portal 2 as well, these games are literally the "two cakes" meme, both being great but loving them for different reasons.

game may suffer from a severe case of map bloat that only gets worse with every update but still, i'll never not love it
