Long read.
tl:dr:
Exciting but matchmaking during low levels is going to be your worst nightmare.
I recommend it for the very few demographic of people who have the patience of a monk but not for those who just want to have plain fun. This game is not fun. It is exciting. There is a difference. You can still have fun and lose. You can feel the loss in this game but losing is part of it. You are meant to lose your hunter eventually. The only difference is whether they die in a match or you retire them for some sweet xp.

Pros:
-Combat feels real
-The risks and rewards are magnified
-It WILL get your heart pumping in every engagement
-The feeling you get after fighting 3 groups of players during the banishing and surviving the ordeal never gets old

I have very little cons for this game but they are major issues that I personally experienced or simply learned to deal with.

Cons:
-Game-breaking bugs (i.e some textures not rendering which makes you visible to other players)
-Hard to start when playing without premade teams
-NEVER go solo.
You will progress unbelievably slow. Good teamwork is rewarded. Killing other players gives the most XP. Going solo means you will be cautious with engagements and will most likely just back off. I had to be a camper, waiting around the boss lair hoping for a fire fight and picking off one player then sprinting to extraction. It didn't matter if they get revived by a team mate though, just leave and don't be greedy. Downing a hunter is equivalent to a kill and I had to settle for only one if I didn't want to risk my hunter. Pretty much how I played as a solo.

-Virtually no matchmaking rules.
You will be paired with people of all levels. This might sound like a good thing for beginners, for them to learn the game but almost everyone will leave the party if paired with a newbie. Making starting out the hardest part of playing. I slogged all the way to level 45 playing solo all because everyone keeps leaving. Without any form of proper matchmaking, most players spend an obscene amount of time just trying to queue up. They might reason that this is to make more veteran players to play with newcomers but that simply means that they are naive. A proper loadout is expensive in this game and most players don't want to risk their expenses for nothing. Which just leaves beginners to scrape by until they get to a respectable level

-Toxic Community.
Beginners will not survive in this game. If you're used to long and tedious grinds, give the game a try. Otherwise, forget it. Most players have a "git gud" sort of mentality in this game and they usually associate that to your prestige level, which if you have zero, they will not hesitate to leave the lobby immediately despite having a decent loadout. Have fun queuing up for an hour until you find some other newbie everyone else just keeps leaving behind too or play solo and take two weeks getting to level 50. There might be others who get offended by this and say something along the lines of "hey I queue up with newbies too". Sure you might, but in my personal experience, everyone whose prestige is higher than zero ALWAYS made a pass on me when my level was below 50.
-If the ridiculous headshots from a mile away won't make you quit, the queue ups will.

All in all, great game. Requires teamwork but goodluck finding one.

I have played this game for years now. Ever since i started playing i loved it. I love the gameplay, the mechanics. But all of this went down the drain after the new update. I experience severe fps drops like it's having a digital seizure. Worst of all, it happens every minute. The new update literally made the game unplayable for me. Nothing changed with my pc's hardware nor software but ever since the new update, I am experiencing problems i never experienced before.

BOTTOM LINE: dont buy the game till the fix the issue. Do not buy Insurgency Sandstorm either. I hear that it is also experiencing the same performance issues.

PROS:
Fun

CONS:
You'd get the same amount of fun on TF or Overwatch.
Crashes more often than Neymar fakes an injury
Logging in takes longer than downloading 1 petabyte of illicit internet content (Steam might delete my comment for being
too vulgar)
The technical staff doesn't seem to care
They don't respond to tickets.
A bigger waste of time than Trump's presidency
More bugs than a Bethesda game
My friends list in game was large and after 2 years of not playing, every single one of them stopped playing. Which means
this game just wastes your time.
You WILL drop this game sooner or later so I suggest you just not touch this game at all
If you want to have fun with your friends, just get something else. TF2 is fun and its free, Overwatch is also fun but paid
This game is the amalgamation of everything a programmer SHOULD NOT do. based on the game's performance.
Its a dying game. Let it die peacefully. The only reason its been alive for so long is because too many children have access
to their parents wallets to buy skins and heroes.

♥♥♥♥ community. Full of griefers that kick you for no apparent reason right when you are about to escape and there is no way to report the players because there are no records of people you recently played with. The game is fun and all but all that is ruined when the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ host decides to kick EVERYONE right before the finish.
