It's not the longest experience you'll have ever purchased, but WOW OH WOW is it a good one. My friend and I got really invested in the story and had an amazing time with it. It's a rare game that can make a grown man cry, but this one did and it EARNED my tears. Hated the ending. 10/10

EDIT 2: Setting review back to NEGATIVE on May 12th at 5:03 PM. The game is still not available in non-PSN valid regions, which tells me Sony is attempting to play the long-con. DO NOT LET THEM WIN.

The game itself is fantastic. Anyone reading this likely already knows that. However, I cannot provide a positive review while Sony is shafting the playerbase AND the developers of this otherwise amazing game.

Never forget: The PSN requirement that's causing all of this trouble for everyone isn't being forced on people by ArrowHead, it's being done by SONY as a way to take advantage of a rising star to boost some numbers on a piece of paper. It is violating and needs to be stopped.

EDIT: Made positive on May 6th at 7:18AM EST. The PSN requirement has been lifted! The greatness of Helldivers 2 is no longer under threat! For now.

If you're reading this, it's likely you already know what other reviews have said: The gameplay is solid as hell and insanely fun, but the other systems are wanting. All very much true. However, I believe I can say with a fair degree of confidence that Fatshark has gotten their act together and ironed out a hell of a lot of kinks. Those problematic auxiliary systems have been slowly but surely developed and refined further into an overall game experience that I would comfortably call "still room for improvement, but overall pretty good." Still haven't heard a peep about additional story content or new classes, but given Vermintide as a precedent I have every confidence those will be coming in due course. Solid recommend now!

To not have this game is a sin. Seriously, PCGamer isn't kidding when they say it's the best online experience you can have. And now that it's free, YOU TOO can enjoy the giblets! :D
