Stayed at the Golden Krone Hotel for two nights in December and boy was I lucky to get a room, because it was miserable outside! The hotel seems really authentic — stone walls, candelabra, red carpeted staircases and the sound of dogs (or where they wolves?) howling in the valley.

Mina from reception greeted me and gave me some tips, although I never saw her again to thank her. Hi Mina!

The rooms are large, if rather basic. To be quite honest, the bed was a little hard for my liking, and I found myself getting up in the middle of the night and taking a stroll around the hotel to ease my aching spine. The problem with all that walking is that you build up quite an appetite, and there's no room service to speak of! Thankfully the bar is excellent, with a wide variety of exotic cocktails. I won't spoil them for you. You simply must try them yourself.

The views from the hotel are magnificent, especailly when the sun comes out.

I can't wait to come back. In fact, some days I feel like I never really left.

I squandered hundreds of hours on this while it was in alpha. There's nothing quite like it. Creepy, tense, shocking and often wryly amusing.

Sadly the player base dwindled after the Steam release and because the game relies on user content I stopped playing.

Thankfully as of November 2017 there's been an update which for the most part fixes the user content issue and means there's always something to do when you login, even if nobody else is playing.
